Here's how it's done.
 |
| The text area is shown by the green rectangle. |
Make sure you know what dimensions you're reducing the page
to. If you're working for a publisher, they should supply you
with page dimensions. A good measure is the text area,
which is the area in which speech balloons appear, and is usually
where the outer edges of the panel borders lie.
 |
| Using the Measure tool, click on the point
you wish to measure from and drag to the point you wish to measure
to. Read off the W value for horizontal measurements. |
- In the Toolbox, select the Measure tool.
- Click on the panel border on the far left, hold down the
mouse button, and pull to the panel border on the far right.
- For horizontal measurements, read off the W value
in the bottom right-hand quadrant of the Info palette. For vertical
measurements, read from the H value.
Calculate the percentage reduction as follows:
Percentage reduction = (reduced page size/measured
page size) x 100
 |
| Click on the tabs circled in green and pull
down to select Percent, then type in the value you've
calculated. The two values are linked, so a figure typed in one
will appear in the other. |
- In the Image menu, select Image Size...
- The Image Size dialog box will appear.
- By Width & Height, alter the pull down Pixels tabs so
they say Percentage.
- Type in the figure you have calculated and click OK.
The file will be scaled down accordingly. Check the size of
the file again with the Measure tool.
