I love to work on my doll's houses when I'm not writing - which isn't very often! I've put a few pictures up so I can share them with you.
I have to apologise for the pictures - I've never
been the best photographer in the world! - but I hope it will give you
an idea of what I'm doing inside. None of the rooms are finished yet (are
they ever?) but these are the nearest to completion. The house is an old
one, inhabited by people who love antiques, but they live in the present
day.
This is the latest addition to the Salon.
I bought this desk as a whitewood carcase from Hatton Woods, and
then stained, applied the marquetry and French polished it, before
adding the gilding. A Carlton House desk.
This is the beginning
of the Adam Salon. I used his Etruscan Room as inspiration. I decorated
the furniture with paint and decals. It runs the width of the first
floor at the side. I want to do a fancy ceiling.
This
is the Nursery. I want to repaint the woodwork white. I used the wallpaper
and the cat chair to theme the room. The bed and the rocker need painting
to suit the scheme, and there needs to be a new light.
This is the
Chinese Bedroom. I painted and decorated the furniture myself, using
decals from Microscale. I made the bed myself. I always wanted an
extravagant bedroom, and now I have one!
This
is the kitchen. The central light needs changing, and the fridge needs
filling. I also want to put pot hooks in place for the saucepans.
The dresser contains my collection of "Woman's Touch" teapots.
I painted and decorated the furniture myself, using stencils from
The Ironworks.
