Aidan strode to the sofa and threw the loose cushions
down on the floor. He turned back to her, one eyebrow quirked
in query. "Your choice, Corinne." His voice had roughened and
deepened with passion. She looked at him, long hair rumpled by
her fingers, t-shirt rucked up at the front, jeans tented by his
erection. No choice. No choice at all.
He waited for her to make her decision, his mouth slightly open,
his face flushed with passion. He didn't have to wait for long.
She almost stumbled in her haste to join him, slipping off her
low-heeled sandals on the way. Smiling at her, he swept her into
his arms and lifted her off her feet, before he took them down
to the makeshift bed on the floor. "How about the sound booth?"
he murmured. "Can anybody get in there?"
She shook her head. "It's kept locked."
"Don't say you've not been warned." He rolled so she lay under
him, her skirt tangled around their legs. He lifted his head,
and rested his weight on his elbows. "You're fucking lovely, Corinne
Westfall." Then he bit his lip. "Sorry."
"What for?" She smiled when she realized. "Swearing? You think
I never heard a man say ‘fuck' before? And I thought I was
old fashioned!"
His laugh reverberated through her lower body, where they pressed
together intimately. It felt delicious, even through their clothes.
She could feel his cock hard against her pubic bone. She couldn't
resist wriggling a little against him.
An abrupt end to the laugher and a low groan rewarded her. He
bent to take her mouth again, surrounding her with heat. She reacted
eagerly. His opened his mouth wide and slanted it across her lips,
devouring hers and she responded, as wild as he, squirming under
him to reach more, feel more. When he pulled away, she stared
at him, dazed with need.
"Too many clothes," he gasped, and put his hands on the hem of
his t-shirt, dragging it over his head. His chest was broader
than she'd expected, his shapeless t-shirt somehow hiding the
definition of his muscles. His light tan and the easy way he moved
spoke of strength and fitness.
Not taking her gaze away from him, loving the sight of Aidan's
fit body, Corinne pulled at the tie of her drawstring top until
it came loose and he watched her tug the neck wider until it became
useless, his eyes branding her every move. She glanced down at
her top to find somewhere to grasp it so she could drag it off.
Her plain white bra came into view and she wished she'd worn something
seductively lacy, but he didn't seem to care.
He touched the underside of her breast, making her shiver in response.
"Do you need this bra?" Taking her light gasp as a response, he
unclipped the front fastening and impatiently pulled the material
aside. "Fuck. Oh fuck."
Corinne had never thought her breasts attractive. They were heavy
and full, tipped with large, nipples the color of a damask rose.
From the look on Aidan's face, he didn't think they were unattractive.
He stared, his gaze so heated she could almost feel it burning
her already hot flesh. He covered them with his hands almost reverently,
gently massaging, lifting them and pressing them together, making
Corinne twist up to him in pleasure. With a groan, he moved his
hand to curve around her back, pulled her up to where he knelt
above her and took a nipple into his mouth. He didn't stop to
touch or kiss, but sucked her in as if he was starving and she
had the only sustenance he wanted. His single minded need ripped
through her body.
The wet suction created a response that shot through her and she
cried out softly, her voice breaking. He lifted his head, a wicked
smile curving his full lips. "You're gorgeous. I can't believe
you've kept all this hidden from the world."
"But not from you." And not from all of the world, either. There
were half a dozen men who could confirm that.
The smile broadened. "No, not from me." He moved up her body,
back to her mouth and claimed it in another searing kiss.
Skin to skin with Aidan felt like no other encounter had ever
done. This wasn't how she'd imagined an encounter with a rock
musician. In her dreams, Corinne let her most sordid fantasies
run wild, imagined a knee-trembler backstage between the show
and the encores, let herself become the skankiest groupie, the
most predatory fan. She still harbored that at the back of her
mind, but this wasn't the fulfillment of that particular fantasy.
This was different. A man and a woman exploring each other's bodies,
nothing between them except a few inconvenient clothes.
As she thought this, she felt his hand between them, at the buttons
of his fly. She reached down to help, eager to feel his whole
length stretched naked along her body.
Aiden went commando. When she helped him unfasten his jeans, his
cock fell into her hand, hot and hard. She gasped at the speed
of the contact, the way events were escalating, her voice blending
with his low cry when he felt her touch him. She took her opportunity
and gripped him, squeezing him, then sliding her hand up to the
tip and down again. He was fully erect, hard for her. She moved
her hand down, then up, loving his reaction as he pushed into
her grasp.
"Wait. Stop. Carry on like that and I'll come in your hand. Give
me a minute." He sounded breathless, as breathless as Corinne.
He leaned back and she feasted her eyes on him while he dragged
her skirt and panties out of the way.
They looked at each other. Corinne gazed at his hairless chest,
with flat brown nipples she longed to taste. When he moved, his
muscles tightened, bulged in response, but in repose she could
hardly see them. An athlete's body, with lightly bronzed skin.
Every wet dream she'd ever had, personified.
She reached out hungrily to him, but he smiled and drew away,
dragging her skirt and panties down her legs and away, shoving
his jeans off to join them. When he knelt to return for her, she
saw his erect cock properly for the first time. It reared out
of a bed of bright red curls that were only slightly darker than
the hair on his head, more red than copper, flaming with gold
and orange highlights, but unmistakably red. She stared, fascinated.
"Like what you see?" he murmured huskily.
"Oh, yes." She dragged her gaze back to his face and grinned.
He smiled back. "I wondered what color your hair really was. Everyone
does." There were rumors that he dyed everything, but surely not
there!
Speculation entered his gaze. He stared at her for a full half
minute before replying. "It's not dyed. People just assume it
is and I let them."
"Oh, but nobody has hair that color!" she was shocked enough to
blurt out.
"I do." He reached back and loosened the tie, letting his hair
fall loose around him, blazing red in a halo cast by the sun streaming
in through the windows.
The sight pushed her over the edge Aidan, like a living flame,
hers for the taking. "Come here," she whispered.
His body covered hers, surrounding her with living heat. He slipped
his hand between them, down to her crotch and into the dark curls
there, searching and finding her inner lips. His faint groan when
he slid inside her labia made her arch up, trying to persuade
him to push inside her but he slid his finger up instead, searching
for her clit. And finding it. His mouth once more took hers in
a deep kiss as electricity jolted her up to another level of bodily
awareness. He circled her clit, then pinched it between thumb
and finger, the slight pain only enhancing her need for him.
For a second time he pulled away, leaving her gasping her need.
His sudden departure pulled her out of the hot mood his seduction
had drawn her into. "What is it? What's wrong?"
For answer, he reached for his discarded jeans, delving into a
pocket and bringing out a foil packet held between two fingers,
one of which had just a few seconds ago been touching her. It
still glistened with her juices. He waved the packet at her. "We
can't forget this."
"I'm on the Pill," she said.
He paused, staring. "Baby, you have to take care." His voice softened
to a low, intimate tone, caressing in its intensity.
She felt a thrill, hearing him use a word of endearment and smiled
up at him. "I trust you." She knew she shouldn't, but when she
looked into his eyes she saw honesty and concern, and she knew
he wouldn't hurt her.
He caught his breath in a sharp gasp. "You know what I am, what
I've done? Do you trust all your lovers like this?"
"I know some of it. But no, I don't trust ‘all my lovers'
like this." All six of them as opposed to what—hundreds?
He'd probably had a lot of women. The rock star lifestyle would
see to that. She couldn't explain why she felt this way about
him, that she could trust him. It had nothing to do with her lurid
fantasies about the guitarist Splinter and everything to do with
a man called Aidan Hawthorne. "I've never trusted anyone like
this before."
"I'm glad to hear it." Tenderness replaced the faint anxiety in
his amber eyes. That was the last thing she'd expected when she'd
decided to let this encounter take its course. She'd expected
a fierce fucking to help chase her blues away, but it seemed to
be mutating into something else. Something deeper and far more
unsettling.
She watched him smooth the condom over his cock one handed. Part
of her wanted to help him, part of her wanted to watch, so she
let the voyeur win. She admired his expertise.
"What is it?" So sensitive to her already, he'd even noticed her
moment of regret. "Do you want to stop?"
"God, no!"
Her vehemence made him chuckle and he came down to her again,
covering her body deliciously with his long one, surrounding her
with his heat once more. His lips met hers, inciting all the fire
simmering just underneath the surface. He dipped his tongue into
her mouth, caressing her softly. "Then we won't stop," he murmured
against her lips. "Open your legs wider, sweetheart. Let me in
to that sweet pussy of yours."

Ms. Connolly has created an incredible story that ensnares the reader in from the very beginning. I loved how the myth of the Phoenix is used as a pivotal point around which the story is woven.
The love that developed between Corrine and Aidan was intense and quite beautiful. The descriptive way in which the transformation scenes were written brought them to life for the reader.
Thanks go to Ms. Connolly for an incredible story.

Ms. Connolly brings together two guitarists from opposite ends of the spectrum, one classical, one rock, and blends them together in a tale of steamy drama and explosive sex. Readers are held spellbound as these two attempt to mount all the obstacles placed in their way by their fans, family and friends. I can only say that as good as the story was in its previous incarnation, this version is even better. There is more heart, more emotion, and more life in this version which makes it a definite lifetime keeper for my library.
5 hearts - lifetime keeper!

On a scale of 1-10 I give it an
11! I was hooked on Sunfire from the first paragraph and couldn't
put it down until I finished it. Lynne Connolly has created a masterpiece!
This book is a keeper.
I've got my eye on Lynne Connolly.

Sunfire burns quick and hot but it isn't fleeting. This is a full
length title and the characters are solid, the plot developed. I
expected the heat but I was pleasantly surprised to get laughs and
tears as well.
Secondary characters are excellent. I can't wait to get more of
the band… or Ryan. Which is a good thing since he's the hero
of the next book. So, I'm holding up my cell phone hoping for a
quick encore.

Sunfire is an enthralling tale that
pulls you in from page one. This is not
your typical shape-shifter romance and readers will revel at the
turns and multiple plot twists. Lynne Connolly has started a
series that will keep you coming back for more.

If Sunfire is any indication of how great the Pure Wildfire Series is going to be, I can not wait for the next installment. Icefire, is advertised as coming soon; soon can not come soon enough for me...
Mickey McCall for Simply Romance Reviews. Grade A
There was nothing about these two or this book that I didn’t like, and pardon my gushing enthusiasm, but I truly appreciated the author’s ability to integrate information regarding the Phoenix myth and legend seamlessly into the storyline. This shapeshifter book has it all…love, passion, deceit, betrayal, sibling rivalry and most of all, hope for the future. It’s a definite keeper to be read and enjoyed again and again.
Keep up the good work Ms. Connolly!

This is definitely a must read novel and a must have author.
Lynne Connolly writes a masterful story that leaves the reader wanting more of her characters. Without a doubt this is a top-notch novel. This is definitely a fabulous book and I can not wait for more.

I have a "grown-up" phoenix book to treasure and re-read. If you love shapeshifters, and want a change from all the (lovely) "cats and dogs", or if you love music and musicians, don't miss this book. I know I can hardly wait for the next installment of this series!

The need to protect, a simple wish to love and be loved, along with a father twisted by greed and hungry for a mystical power are just a few of the twists and turns we're treated to besides some incredibly erotic sex that would make me go phew! It's a great read and loads of fun.

In this story, I saw the ways power can corrupt and also how not accepting all the gifts given to you could hurt you. Aidan has been born into a position of power, but he has been reluctant to accept all that goes with it. Sunfire has found its way firmly on my keeper shelf to be read over and over again.
Jo for Joyfully Reviewed
Aidan Hawthorne, a name I absolutely adore, is the guitarist for the popular rock group, Sunfire. He also happens to be a shape-shifting firebird, and not only that, but he’s that rarest of all firebirds, the Phoenix. I don’t often go gaga over the heroes in my books, but I think a lot of that is simply because I don’t find a lot of them particularly sexy. Aidan, however, is totally the kind of guy that I would hook up with in real life if he showed up. He’s got a wonderful combination of tenderness and wild masculinity, and I just wanted to smuggle him away and take him home.
I was also pleased that, given how much I loved Aidan, Corinne worked for me as a heroine.
Shannon C for Flight into Fantasy
Fabulous. Beautiful. What else can you say about a book that is so creatively written, capturing every nuance, taking in every detail of a life? This story is so superbly written, so incredibly sexy. I absolutely loved it! This is a must read, excellent work, Ms. Connolly. The pictures you created with your words brought me right into the rocker lifestyle; I was able to shape-shift in my mind, truly fabulous. This story is packed with passion, packed with color, packed with life - it's beautiful! This is a must read!
Desiree de Cleves for Enchanting Reviews. 5 stars
I have always thought that telepathy was one of the sexiest notions around. What could be more thrilling than sharing your lover's thoughts while you are making love? There is no fumbling, no misunderstandings, no miscommunication, only the perfect synchrony of
desire and fulfillment. To be simultaneously linked in body and in mind must be the peak experience, especially when your partner is not only the object of your desire but also your soulmate. Lynne Connolly's paranormal romance SUNFIRE gives readers a heady dose
of this experience.
One of Aidan's paranormal abilities is thought-reading and transmission, and it turns out that Corinne is sensitive also. Thus, SUNFIRE is replete with incandescent sex scenes made almost unbearably exciting and intimate by the mental communication between the two lovers.
Possibly even more intense, though, are the wonderful scenes on-stage. Ms. Connolly does an impressive job of conveying the emotions of the band, their interplay, the excitement of being part of
a creative whole made up of talented individuals depending on and
caring about each other.
Lisabet Sarai for ERWA
the book offers a meatier story of the raunchy world of rock with perfectly blended in scorching scenes and emotional encounters between Aidan and Corrine. The result is an explosive match with enough sizzling sexuality to create SUNFIRE.
JT for Romance Junkies
As I read, I found myself being pulled further and further into the story behind it all. I found myself being drawn into the plot and rooting in my head for Corinne and Aidan. The uniqueness of the characters is not in the fact that they are shape shifters; it is in the act of their love. I enjoyed the story behind the story, in this case. Not the fact that they were shifters, not that they were a rock band, but the feelings of love and family that this entire story provokes. I was looking for something more than just a shifter romance when I started reading Sunfire, and Lynne Connolly definitely gave me what I was looking for! Looking for something that is hot and heavy, yet still manages to be sweet and poignant? Then you should definitely check into the Wildfire series.
