He kissed her, gentle at first, his lips barely caressing hers, but soon escalating to openmouthed passion. His tongue delved into her mouth and she welcomed it with all her soul, lifting her arms to slide them around his neck and hold him close.

I loved this continuation of the series, it has danger, excitement and downright blazing ardor, which also includes an unexpected romance. Every time I read one of these books by Ms. Connolly I am captivated, not only by the story but the characters, they’re all unique in their own ways but they also know how to take care of one of their own. Reading about Bryn, Kai and Crystal left me hungering for more. I wasn’t sure what I loved about them or what the appeal was but what I did read was pure passion. It has its sad parts but I’ll let the reader find out what, all I can say is, go out and get this book, in fact read the series from the start, it will be well worth the read.

There are lots of great ménage scenes in this episode of the Dept 57 series and a tender love story as well. The characters of Kai, Bryn and Crys are very well developed and we learn a little bit more about the enigmatic Cristos and many of the other operatives of Dept 57 we’ve come to love. The love story moves along at a believable pace and everyone is very adult about the situation. Their relationships move on to another chapter. The plot is good and the story is extremely well written. The facts, myth and lore of merpeople are explored in depth and explained. Liquid Crystal is a really fun story and another exciting adventure in the ongoing saga of Dept 57.

Every time I open up a Dept. 57 book I know that the adventure will be page turning and the passion will flow out.  Crys, Bryn and Kai did all of that and a bit more while trying to bring down their foes.  I can’t think of any woman who would not have wanted to be in between Bryn and Kai – myself included.  The ending leads to what I hope will be yet another Dept. 57 book.  Liquid Crystal is jammed packed with action, danger and erotic passion that should not be missed.

It is one whopper of a good story with an almost perfect ending; though revealing my version of perfect would count as a spoiler. Ms. Connolly is a master at creating interesting, mind catching characters in a sentence or two. Well done, Ms. Connolly. I am hoping to see Grady and Serafino starring in their own Department 57 love stories.
