Winter Field Imaginings (2.53) DVD

Moving image with sound exploring landscape and nature as aspects of transformation. A slippage from reality to fantasy occurs when the imagination takes over and a story (a longing for spring) is imposed on the bleak landscape of a winter field.

Moving image with sound. During the piece the fixed elements, (rocks and structures) are moved poetically in an extraordinary way.

Moving image with sound. Nature is mediated by technology and the creative process is informed by the action of the wind which moves the leaves and produces sounds.

Circadian Rhythms - Escalator (2.05) DVD

The structure now of the rearranged video on screen was softer, more liquid and merging with the natural world; beginning to look organic as a waterfall of stairs emerged. The handrails reconstructed as sinuous leaves ... renewal.

Circadian Rhythms - Coast (1.00) DVD

Moving image with sound. The viewer is separated from the natural world outside by a window. The original sounds were removed from the video and delays were added to emphasize the repetitions and subtle sounds that the coastal wind causes. The sounds were then fitted to the moving images.

Soundwork watching the water (3.01) rock dancing (1.59) slowly submerging (2.20) Creative process is informed by the action of the sea which seems to dance as it transports and deposits material, shaping the coastline. The sounds were recorded at a remote coastal location and transported back to the studio to be digitally shaped into dance type rhythms, echoing the seas action.

Temporary painting and inspiration

Dried paint splashes peeled from the floor, then stored in a (white cube) plastic box to be presented as temporary paintings. Inspiration - natural mark making found in nature and by the haphazard nature of paint.
