RW Abbey: Entry
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a sandy area between Great Hall and the main gates of the Abbey. It obviously gets a great deal of traffic, if one is to judge by the number of pawprints going every which direction here. There is an obvious path leading to the double doors of Great Hall, which stand propped open to allow the interior some relief from the heat of the season. There are patches of wildflowers lining the area, and a large virginia creeper twines between the stained glass windows and one side of Great Hall's doors, ever seeking a path upward.

There is a bustle of activity here, and you can hear the occasional murmur of a passing conversation. The sun is high overhead, and shadows are small. All is bright.

Taking one of his leisure strolls around the grounds, Jarril looks calm and happy at the moment, things are going okay with the recruits, one of them is back safe now and the hare has been well fed.  With both arms around his back he looks up at the tall abbey and gives a slight nod on another good day.

Torwin makes his way in through the gates, using his back to shove them closed again. The squirrel shifts the bow on his shoulder as he glances around. "Good afternoon major" he calls out after spotting the hare.

Jarril comes to a stop and turns his head around so that he can see who is calling him with his only eye.  "G'afternoon sah.  Been anywhere pleasant, wot?"

Torwin shrugs and says, "Just around Mossflower. I still have a habit of going on my old patrol route."

Jarril nods his head.  "Aye, some things are a bit hard ta overcome with change.  Still been waking up before dawn myself."

Torwin chuckles and nods, "Aye, that they are. So how have you been enjoying your stint here in Mossflower?"

Jarril gives one of his whiskers a stroke with a paw as he ponders this question.  "I have ta say that it's had it's up and downs.  But it has been educational nonetheless.  Aye, I have been enjoying it."

Torwin nods, "Good. I was thinking of heading over to your headquarters in the woods to talk to you. Myself and some of the other abbey beasts have been curious about some recruits that have seemed to disappear."

Jarril coughs.  "Oh that.  Well, a few are still here.  Harper and Jakk though I think Jakk is still recovering.  As for the others.  One has been asked ta go back ta the mountain and the other one is absent without leave right about now and her whereabouts are unknown."  The major frowns slightly with that one.

Torwin hms, "Flaxpaw correct? Here I thought that she had permission to head out. She left a couple of weeks ago with Darkmane, think they mentioned something about heading to Southsward." He scratches at the scar on his cheek thoughtfully.

Jarril shakes his head. "She nevah got my permission but there were other things that made her lose her position in the patrah.  So it's a moot point now.  She's on her own for the time being, wherever her decision leads her ta, I just hope she's made the right choice."

Torwin hms and arches a brow, "Indeed. Well sorry to see that the exchange isn't working out. Are you still planning on continuing with the rest of the season?"

Jarril replies back.  "We have ta see how things work out."  The hare looks about and speaks again slowly.  "The problem is that our worlds are so very different that problems were ta come about.  Whether or not we're out of the storm now I don't know.  Even I am finding it difficult ta settle down here."  Coming to a stop, the hare shrugs.  "I think it's just ta peaceful here, for a hare like me and others that face danger out there in the sands every day it takes more than a season ta get rid of the feeling of being unsettled."

Torwin nods and smiles a little, "Aye, I know just what you mean. When I came back to the abbey after being away for a while, I didn't feel comfortable with giving my weapons away at first. I spent a good 4 seasons with them on me at all times in the abbey since we frequently had 'visitors' while the walls were down."

Jarril moves his nose slightly.  "The air's different here as well, none of that sea air around here.  I think we're just homesick at the moment.  Though if any recruit wishes ta give up then I won't foce them ta stay.  It was a nice idea after all.  Besides I am hoping it will strengthen our friendship between our two camps together as friends and allies."

Torwin nods, "Aye. I thought it was a kind of strange idea when I heard it myself. But I'm just a resident old timer. I wonder if the few novices that went to the mountain are having any troubles."

Jarril doesn't speak at first and looks about.   Eventually he does.  "I just hope they're made of strong stuff.  Training is a bit hard.  A lot of fight training happens there, as well as weapons.  Sometimes accidents happen.  The occasional sprain or something.  Though I think they be fine, wot."  He smiles.  "I wouldn't worry about it."

Torwin chuckles and says, "Oh I'm not too worried. I personally think that type of training'll do them good." The squirrel grins and says, "Guess that shows why I haven't joined the order, even though I've spent a good 10 seasons around here. Not quite ready to hang up my bow and falcatas."

Jarril nods.  "Well, most of us don't have the option of hanging up our arms.  We patrollers live hard and fast and many don't get ta see middle age.  Although we pretty much stop anything from coming in from the west into the mainland."  The hare looks around and smiles.  "Good job too as well, hate ta see what would happen if sea corsairs didn't have a target like ours and carried on inland."

Torwin can't help but smirk, "Hope you're not calling me middle age mate" he jokes. "Aye, sure do appreciate that. Anyway, I better go relieve myself of these things then I'm going to wander around the orchard some I think. It was good talking to you major."

Jarril nods.  "Aye, have a good day."  Bowing his head slightly.
