Salamandastron: Badger Lord's Room
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
The chamber you step into looks as if it was clawed into the very rock of
the mountain. A high, craggy celing and bare walls give the room a
decidely spartan look, fitting of a warrior. The bed is actually a large
stone slab, heavily strew with large pillows, big enough to accommodate
the Badger Lord Bludstripe and his wife, the Lady Stormstripe. A table
sits on one side of the room, a circular oak affair surrounded by four
large chairs.  On the same side is a large fireplace, over which are two
sets of wall hanging hooks, most likely for the rulers weapontry. On the
remaing side is a large window hacked from the stone, facing out over the
endless expanses of sand and sea, a portal for the Lord to watch over his
domain.

The room is a mess, full of pelts of various woodlanders, vermin, dirty dishes that were left behind, bones of dead birds as various hares are moving about to clean the room to where it should be like, ready for another badger lord to come and claim it in the future.  Picking up one of the pelts, Jarril wrinkles his nose as he shakes his head.  "Bally disgusting habbits, wot."

"Badger babies... need to stay asleep all night.." Zeraph's mutters could be summarized as this as he wanders along the third floor corridor, rubbing his eyes with the butt of his palm. However the noise from the cleanup gets the buck's attention and he starts that way with both ears perking curiously. Hmm. The first thing he notes is his Major, standing there with one of the pelts. "Erm.." Pause. "Planning on wearing it, sah?"

The look of disgust is what is given back from major to Lt. as Jarril throws it back down onto the floor.  "When 'ell freezes over, lad."  Wiping his paw he smiles.  "So, long time no see.  How's the patrol?  Actually more importantly, how's you?"

Zeraph watches the pelt slide across the floor when it lands, then steps in closer to Jarril with another half-smile. "The patrol is - Well.. Then I guess /I'm/ fine. Tired." When he remembers why he is 'tired' a look passes over his features like he seems like he'll feel sick again, before returning full attention to his superior. Or trying.

Giving a wave of his paw, Jarril smiles.  "Zeraph, forget the formalities at the moment.  Superior I am of yours right now but I won't work you to collasping.  Besides, looks like a lot have been through a lot here."  He watches as some hares push several pelts out of the window, followed by stinking bird bones.  "You'd think though that they would clean up better for using this room.  It's a disgrace but please, don't tell my cousin...  She has enough on her mind right now than see this place."

Flinch. Zeraph gives a paranoid/surprised jerk to the side as a hare brushes very close past him, then relaxes fully, kind of slouched. It's something he does more out of instinct when he's trying to be perhaps less 'seen', tucking his paws in his pockets. "Hmm. They're vermin though, so you wouldn't expect them to." He glances sideways at the Major, ears tipping back. "Didn't think I was being too formal anyway."

Jarril nods.  "I know you weren't, but best to relax anyways, you know."  The major looks at the work being done as he smiles.  "Well, we soon get this place back into shape, can't have a badger lord see something like this.  We never hear the last of it for a few seasons."  Giving a wink.

That wink could possibly look like just a blink, if not for being deliberate and well-timed. XD Raph catches it at least, grinning a little. "/If/ we get a badger lord, though?" Finally he leans down to pick up the pelt that had been dropped, gazing at it with a scowl.

The quiet murmurings from within the room are enough to draw at least one beast's attention. Taye pauses outside the door, nudging it open and poking his head inside. "... Hullo?" Blink-blink-blink. Hard for his eyes to adjust.

Smiling, Jarril gives a nod at Zeraph.  "Aye we will.  In our time or in our young ones time, one of the hares will greet the new badger lord.  We just have to be patient and wait and in the meantime, do the best that we can."  He looks about.  "Apart from this I would say we've done a rather excellent job, we've always managed to fight back, win the day so to speak wot.  So a little setback, we get everyone back that's taken, beat this new vermin group like the patrol has done in the past, like we've done in the past.  We're not beaten, I'll deny that we're beaten to anyone that says so."  Bending down to picking up the pelt again and he frowns.  "This, this just shows how we know how to beat them.  They're bullies, murderers and they make a mistake one day and when they do, well they have the full force of the patrol ramming right into them."  The major walks towards the window as he talks and throws it out of the window, watching it fall.  Placing his paws on the rock he looks determined.  "They regret

"They regret the day they heard of this place, mark my words."

Aww. Now that's inspiring. Zeraph pays attention throughout the whole speech, and when it is over, a smirk forms. However, he really doesn't know what to say. That's why Taye's emergence is so great! :D The Lieutenant turns his focus that way, ears perking again. "Oh! Taye.. Hello." Yeeeess. That's right.

Taye's ears perk forward as he is greeted by Zeraph. He dips his head in a nod, looking first one way around the room, then the other. That's when he sees Jarril. He blinks, having heard he was back but not yet having seen him. He breaks out in a grin, but of course first offers Zeraph a salute before turning it on Jarril. "Sorry, sahs, am I interruptin' anythin'?"

Jarril turns around and shakes his head.  "No, we're just cleaning out the mess our guests made while using this room."  Smiling slightly, he walks towards Taye and nods his head.  "Glad to see you're okay."

Zeraph goes quiet, the salute returned with just a nod to Taye, before he watches the younger buck talk with Jarril. That means that the officer has nothing to interject and his mind is elsewhere anyway, though that seems as if it would be normal. He starts over to help toss garbage out through the window. The easiest way to dispose of things! :D

Taye meets Jarril halfway, stopping just short of him. He grins almost kind of sheepishly, shifting his weight briefly from one foot to the other. "Yeah, well. Glad yer okay, too." Heh. He hesitates for a few seconds longer, then throws caution to the wind! He steps forward, going to catch the older buck in a one-armed hug. Squeeeze!

Jarril blinks at first and then gives Taye a hug, seems to be the thing for hugging at the moment within the patrol but the major doesn't mind.  "Same with you."  Giving a pat he backs up and nods.  "So it's you and the others I have to thank in saving this place, right?"  He laughs.  "Good job, yes, good job indeed."

Marsuvees sort of sticks his head into the room abruptly and with no warning. The March hare monk sniffs once, sneezes violently, and pulls his head back into the hall, muttering about vermin stench. Then, once again, he's back in, this time breathing through his mouth. "'llo, Gentlemen." He blinks at Taye once. Don't know him. Shrugging, he turns his attention on Zeraph, whose throwing stuff out the window. "Cleanin', eh? 'avin' fun?" He scoots over to Zeraph. "Oy, mate, how 're ya?"

Taye offers Jarril a modest grin as he too steps back, shoving his paws in his pockets with a shrug. "Aw, we just did what Darklett told us t' do, 'n' it was mostly Sev leadin' our end o' things. I didn't do much." He glances around at Marsuvees' voice, also not recognizing the other hare. He shrugs to himself, looking back to Jarril. "So I guess you got word back at the abbey, huh?"

At this point Zeraph is leaning against the window sill, watching Jarril and Taye. Midway through his thoughts of how the younger hares like all the other officers better than him, Marsuvees gets his attention. He hadn't noticed his entrance, so he grins with a look of surprise as well. "Oh! Hey, Mars. I'm.. fine, I suppose. You?"

Jarril nods his head.  "Aye, Ender left a message for me and that was it.  I read it, dropped it and was off or I would've been but Harper was a bit quick off the draw there.  Stopped me he did, good thing too."  The major looks about for a moment in thought.  "I barely survived on rations...  Okay now though, they made sure I ate on the way, when they managed to stop me that is."  He looks at Taye.  "Harper hit me once on the way as well.  Had a right go at me, said I be no help to my cousin if I died on the run.  So I backed off a bit and started to eat properly."  Looking down.  "Lost a bit of weight though but me and Harper are okay once again, he was right."

"Disgusted, personally." Mars, frowns as he leans against the wall as well. "The dorm stinks a vermin an' their foods." Snorting slightly, he glances around the room. "Degradation, mate." Cocking his head at the Liutenient, he glances him over. "How'd ya fare? The Colonel ain't done to well, so I figured they'd done ya up as well."

Zeraph shrugs. "No. Not really. I figured they'd do more to me too, but despite the first day of beating on me a little.. all I got was starved the whole time. Even that didn't work out the best, cause of all the other hares around me." The officer glances away from the other buck, trying to send a look out of the window. "Guess they expected I either didn't matter.. or I was strong enough to take a few out with me." Scowl.. Lots of scowls.

Taye's eyebrows go up. Harper... he /knows/ the recruit, what with having been only about half a season ahead of him in the recruit program, but. Last he checked, he and Jarril weren't buddy-buddy. Brow-quirk. What time will change. XD "Oh, aye? Well... good fer Harp, then. Remind me t' thank him fer keepin' ya in line." He offers Jarril a grin.

Jarril nods.  "Oh don't look so surprised, we've been gone a long time.  I suppose you heard about all the problems we had over there anyways."  Looking about the room is actually cleaner than it already is apart from airing it now to get rid of the smell.  Looking at a hare, he nods.  "Go get some scented candles from the store room if any survived. We get rid of this smell one way or another."  The major hoping for a nice breeze tonight to blow this whole stink from the mountain away, even a storm would do right about now.

Marsuvees smirks. "One or the other, eh?" He moves to clap the other on the back once, before settling down. "Eh, too bad I missed th' whole thing." His smirk drops. "'Norocule meu.' Means 'My Luck'." The hare sighs. "Wha' happened, exactly? Th' recruits 'ad some sorta plan?"

"Always." Raph is kind of moved by the paw striking against his back. And not in the emotional way. He actually kind of tilts forward with a surprised expression, then grins at Marsuvees. "Well, if you wanted to get into a captive situation I guess we could set that up for you. But I suppose the recruits did. Or Darklett.. cause he lead them into the mountain."

"Th' outcast?" Mars chuckles. "Who woulda guessed, eh?" Utterly amused, the hare tips his hat up slightly. "Well, good fer him. Ya awarded him something." He pauses, then, "I meant th' mountain, not ye in particular."

Taye rolls his eyes, only nodding at Jarril's words. he then turns to listen as Jarril passes out orders to the other hares in the room. Ho-hum. His ears twitch slightly as he listens in on the other conversation. A thought occurs to him, then. "Majah, d'ya happen t' know what's goin' on t'morrah? Rumah is there's t' be an announcement o' some sort, before the memorial 'n' all."

Zeraph glances sideways at Mars, his brows furrowing. "The outcast?" That's just something odd to call his friend is all. "But I suppose he was. I'm not quite sure." Another briefly sick expression takes over and then he looks towards the door. Erf.

Jarril turning his head back to where Taye is, the major nods his head.  "Ah yes I do but I think it be best for the colonel to state such matters...  Even though I'm sure she's keeping something anyways..."  He coughs.  "Ah don't worry about it, you know tomorrow when we have the meeting."

Marsuvees grunts, then falls into silence, watching Jarril. "Errrr, should I know him," he mutters to Zeraph. "I got a naggin' feelin'."

Some hares come in bringing in sweet smelling burning scented candles as they begin to place them about the room...

Zeraph turns his focus to Jarril. "Who.. Jarril? I figure you should. I mean.. He's my Major." The Lieutenant grins at Marsuvees, chuckling a little.

Marsuvees blinks, then points at Zeraph. "I thought ye were a Major.....oh, wait, Lieutenant." He waves off the previous suggestion, then snaps his fingers. "Oh, he's mine as well." Chuckling, he shakes his head. "Zoe mentioned it, I think."

Zeraph nods a little, tilting his ears back. "Indeed, he is your Major." This seems to be amusing to the buck, who can't wipe that smile off of his muzzle. "I just had control of the patrol for a little while, I guess?" He clears his throat. "Well, you should.. introduce yourself then?"

Ah well. Taye had a feeling that'd be the answer. He offers a nod and a grin, chuckling. "Fair 'nough. S'pose I c'n wait 'til tomorrah..."  He trails off, though, because Jarril's attention has shifted. He turns, looking from Marsuvees to Zeraph.

Jarril looks at Taye with a grin.  "I think you like what's going to be said anyways Taye, that's all I am going to say on the matter."

Marsuvees laughs, then nods. "Suppose so, considerin' he'll be givin' me orders." He speaks clearly, so the others aren't interrupted to badly. Then, with whatever monkish humility he can summon, he sidles up alongside Jarril. "As I unnerstand it, you're who I'm reporting to." He offers his paw, sort of half-covering his tattoos. Heavens knows why.

Observing Marsuvees start over towards Jarril, Raph takes that opportunity to runn aaawwwayy. Well, not literally, but the Lieutenant sure does duck out of the room in an expert manner. "Gotta go. Yeah. See ya all." Most of that is not understandable.

One eye blink, twist of an ear and then a head tilt is what Jarril responds with before responding back to Marsuvees.  "Hmm?"  Raising a brow he nods his head.  "Ah, seems I've not had chance to read any reports yet.."  He shakes his head slowly.  "Well, they're all in a mess anyways or ripped up.  So you're in my patrol then, what's your name and rank?"

Hum. Like it, will he? Taye looks from Jarril to the others, then back. Huh. "Well... I look forward t' it, then." He then offers the Major a grin. "Anyway, I oughta get back to m'duties. Good seein' ya, Jar." He offers him a salute, and then Zeraph one, and a nod finally to Marsuvees. "G'day." Aaaaand he turns. Off he goes.

Marsuvees chuckles, tipping his hat up. "Name an' rank? Ah, a business 'are, eh?" Throwing a swift salute, the monk holds a casual stance, as if saying, 'Oh, you're just another hare'. "Marsuvees Rosso and I'm a fighter...or a monk. Pick th' one that'll be more convenient fer ya at whatever time. Ye ken, aye?"

Jarril nods his head and now offers his paw.  "Ah sorry, things have been a bit hectic."  The major does give a glance to Zeraph as to why he wasn't informed of any rotations in his patrol when he was talking to him a short while ago as he returns his gaze back to facing Marsuvees.  "Well, welcome and I remember that, thanks."

Marsuvees shakes his paw stoutly. "Oh, aye, I'll guarantee ye remember that. An' me." He chuckles, as if he's joking, but, for some reason, it doesn't quite sound resolute. "A pleasure Major."

Jarril nods his head.  "Hmmm, anyways, I have other things to do, things to prepare and all.  So I bid you good day for now."  Turning around, the major leaves the room.
