Halyard Tavern: Main Room
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Halyard Tavern ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Warmly lit by torches along the walls and lanterns set upon the many
tables
scattered around the room, the main room of the Halyard Tavern is an
often-
populated area. One corner of the tavern is taken up by a stage, about
a
foot or two higher than the rest of the floor, where live entertainment
performs, while circular tables, both large and small, are set up in
front
of the stage, spreading out into the center of the room. Meanwhile,
around
the perimeter of the tavern, booths are set, and, of course, the obligatory
bar rests against the far wall, a bartender or barmaid always on duty.

Rothal chuckles. "h'I wouldn't be movin' around h'if h'I wasn't feelin' bettah." The hare glances at Brom, nodding. Tempted to point out that the staff is strangely absent, but he'll find it interesting to see how long the otter will wait for service.
A nod is given in understanding, as Raph rubs his one eye again, gazing somewhere off across the bar. "Alright. Sorry, stupid question." The buck glances towards Brom and offers a nod. "Morning."
Jarril takes a slight peek inside and closes the door again before taking a deep breath. "Ah well, can't not avoid it..." He opens the door and enters quietly looking about but smiles seeing at least the hares are at least up and gives out a bit of a sigh.
Brom looks to Roth and offers a nod and a smile, "Mornin' to you too. How are you two..." then jarril enters, "How are you three doing today?"
Rothal shrugs, making a face that explains exactly how he's feeling today. Then he stands, wandering around behind the bar and looking underneath to see if he can't find something to drink.
Zeraph looks over the bar to Rothal when he moves around it, then his ears are folded down against the back of his neck again. However, Jarril's entrance makes him glance in that direction, before giving a respectful nod. "Morning, sah."
Jarril looks at where Brom is and simply replies back. "Busy, always busy..." He moves to a seat and sits down. "First time I have had free this morning."
Brom chuckles a bit at jarril and arches a brow as Rothal heads around the bar and looks around a bit. "What are you doin' back there mate?" He looks back to the other two hares in the mean time
Jarril opens his backpack and takes out a small pouch which he uncorks and drinks whatever is within it.
Rothal places two bottles on the counter, leaving some coins in their place. He glances at Brom, brow arched. "h'I'm gettin' a drink. Anybeast else want one?"
Flickering of ears shows that Zeraph hears Roth. "No thank you." His focus turns from Jarr, going to finally answer Brom's question. "I've been better."
Brom hms and says, "I'll pass thanks." He then looks to Raph at the answer and just says "Oh?" questioningly.
Rothal shrugs, taking down a glass and filling it with a mix of the two drinks, before coming back around and sitting down in his seat. He sips at it, listening to the others talk.
Zeraph sighs. "Yeah. Guess I'll be happy to get out of here...back to the mountain." Another look given to Jarril, though this one is just a flicker of a glance. "I'm tired. Don't feel like doing much."
Jarril blinks and mutters at Zeraph. "Ya sure ya want back, what with the politics and all that will be increased since ya gained rank?"
Brom listens to the hares, just tapping out a little sea shanty on the counter with his fingers.
Rothal continues to sip at his drink, listening with only a small amount of interest since none of it really applies to him anymore.
Zeraph nods to Jarril. "Yes. I suppose I do want to go back. Nothing else to do besides." Seeming as he hasn't been able to speak well with his friends anymore. Might as well leave now.
Jarril nods. "Well, how are ya ta go back then? T'day, t'morrah or what?"
Brom chuckles a little and says, "Small town only has a charm for so long eh?"
Zeraph glances toward Brom. "Especially when you have nothing to talk about." This could almost be taken as a joke, before he returns to glancing towards Jarril. "I guess whenever you want me back, then."
Jarril looks at Brom and shakes his head. "Don't know, could be a place for retirement I suppose, tha's if there was an opportunity that gave better than what was available at the moment." Moving his head back to Zeraph. "Only if ya are ready, I don't want ya pushing y'self and then ending up in the infirmary because ya weren't ready."
Rothal stands, having emptied his cup, and returns to the bar, pouring another glass. Once again, he drops two coins on the counter. He pauses, then drops a few more, taking the bottles and returning to his seat.
Zeraph nods his understanding. "Aye. Maybe tomorrow, then." He just feels like he needs to occupy his mind somehow. "Thank you."
Brom looks to Jarril, "So any new developments with this horde out there?"
Jarril grins at Zeraph. "Anyways, ya be replacing me at somepoint in the future." He blinks and looks at Brom. "Not heard of anything as of late, don't know what is going on. Mind ya, did see one of them abouts yesterday, big badger, apologised ta me, he did."
Brom hms, "Oh yeah, seen him around the tavern a bit." He shifts in his seat a little and says, "Well if they do head back this way, mind sending me some word, being the new sheriff here and all?"
Zeraph actually gives a smile, though it is weak. "Aye. Hope I can do a good enough job." This is stated half to himself, then his attention turns back to Roth. "I'm sorry."
Jarril nods at Brom. "Maybe, depends if I am allowed ta though." He pauses for a moment and adds. "I'll try my best anyways."
Rothal glances up from his drink. "Sorry? About what?" There is a note of surprise in his voice, but it's hard to hear.
Brom smiles and nods, "Aye I understand. Thanks though." he glances to rothal then back to Jarril. "So how are things at the mountain?"
"Sorry for not being happy with your decision." Zeraph states. "Sorry for not speaking with you." The hare adds again, going to stand up. "Though, I have to be getting some rest right now..Been up all night."
Rothal nods slightly, taking another drink. "h'It's not a problem, mate. h'I would've been surprised h'if yah'd just gone along with h'it. Anyway, go get some sleep."
Jarril ponders. "Oh the mountain is moving along nicely, it always does." The old hare ponders for a moment before continuing. "Several transfers, younger hares gaining rank." He frowns. "Then the politics which has become a bit ta stressful as of late but what can ya do?"
Brom nods and says, "Aye. Didn't really think that a military group would have much politics in it though."
Rothal watches Raph walk away, before turning his attention back to his drink. The hare is out of the conversation, listening quietly to the others.
Jarril chuckles. "Well, promotions, who ta move with ta get that promotion that much faster. Anything with rank has promotion or personal gains which brings about politics on who ya should know and who ya should start ta leave. I think I am one of the latter these days, old hare that's seen ta many wars."
Brom smirks and says, "Aye, I guess your right there. That's one thing that I enjoyed about sailing. No politics, whatever the captain ordered was done and that was it."
Rothal refills his glass, settling back in his seat and sipping at it once more. The hare is able to hold a surprising amount of alcohol without having it affect him. Maybe the drink just isn't that strong.
Jarril nods. "Ah, but those are the breaks. Besides ya can't run away from ya captain at sea like ya can on land."
Brom chuckles and says, "Not as easily no. But if they're especially not pleased, they can try and mutiny. Thankfully I haven't been on a ship where one of those happened."
Jarril grins. "Aye, there is that I suppose..."
Brom chuckles, "But just as long as you've got a good crew and the captain's a good one, there's nothing like bein' at sea. That's freedom out there. Just limited by where the wind blows."
Sieve walks in from the outside, and sits down at the bar.
Rothal swirls his drink in idleness, gazing at the darkish liquid inside. The hare is constantly sleepy, anymore.
Jarril nods and gets up. "I best get going anyways. Got
more work ta do. I see ya around." Jarril slips out of the
door...
