RW Abbey: Great Hall
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Great Hall of Redwall Abbey. Countless paw falls have echoed
from these stones, and untold numbers of feasts and merry gatherings have
been held here. A table, not nearly so grand or large as its predecessors,
but quite functional for mealtimes, rests near the center of the hall.
Chairs exist here aplenty, though most of them are obviously not from the
same set. High above, the stain glass windows give the Great Hall a beautiful
appearance. The glasswork is exceptionally done, crafted by a skilled
artist. The floor is clean and swept. A fire is kept burning in the
fireplace at almost all times of the day and night, and there are several
more comfortable chairs and cushions set up here, of varying sizes. One
looks large enough to easily accommodate a badger.
The Tapestry hangs proud and tall, and while the rest of Redwall may still bear the scars of natural disaster, this most famous of Redwall's relics remains unharmed by beast, time, or the elements. The figure of Martin the Warrior seems to be watching over his own with an unchanging, kindly gaze.
Red, blue, orange, green...vibrant patterns of color are painted on
the floorstones of Great Hall by the high afternoon sun that is streaming
through the stained glass windows.

The floor in Great Hall is lightly damp still from where it has recently been mopped, other then that the hall is empty, the front doors propped open to let in the warm summer air
For the past couple of days since the patrol has left, Jarril has been busy writing into a book, the major having time to catch up on some things he wouldn't have time to do back home. Stopping at the bottom step, the hare looks about for a moment as he considers what to do next.
From the other side of the Great Hall, where the door to the library is, Keiran is just filling and emptying the door frame with his body, hobbling into the Hall and making his steady way across it, humming to himself. Fantastically enough, he doesn't have any books open.
Quinten comes walking into the great hall from outside, dressed in his recruit uniform he starts to sprint across the hall towards where a bucket is sat on the floor. He slides to a halt and picks it up "I knew i forgot something" he then spots Jarril and Kerian "Heeey major...brother off the floor i just finished it"
Jarril gives a grin at Quinten. "So what happened to your habit? I hope ya got in that early morning training I had laid down for ya lot last night?" The major having put them down for a early morning jog before their other tasks for today. Shifting the book under his arm he looks at Keiran and nods slightly to him as well.
Quinten picks up the bucket and nods "Yes sir i did, just finished my chores too and was about to head out for some sparring...boxing practice" he grins "Maybe you'd like to join me sir?"
Jarril ponders that one for a moment and shakes his head. "Er, maybe later, not due back ta the HQ, wot until tomorrow." He looks at the other hare and back again, glad that such training won't be seen in a place like this, not one of the major's greatest skills. "I have other things ta attend ta." He slowly moves from the steps and makes his way over to where the library is.
Quinten goes downstairs to put the bucket away, but he is not gone long before he returns to the Great Hall, hovering abuot near the Major and the Brother whilst waiting for somebeast.
Keiran turns to face the Major as he seems to be heading towards the library. "Er, 'scuse me, Major. Y'need 'elp with anythin' in there?" Keiran smiles helpfully at Jarril, brows raised expectantly.
Coming to a stop, Jarril turns to face Keiran. "Ah, hmm. Quite." He looks at the door and back again. "I wasn't sure but didn't manage ta find records of about thirty seasons ago, not that I would after recent events mind." The hare bites his lip. "Trying ta find some information on my parents when they came here for a quick trip with the patrah before they got married and all." He pats his book. "Writing my story but like ta have some more information on my parents, can't exactly ask them now though."
"Records o'thirty seasons 'go?" Keiran taps his chin, giving it a think over. "Well, 'f y'lookin 'n th'/lib'ry/ f'things like tha', y'settin' y'self up f'failure, 'f y'don' min' me sayin' so, Major." He grins, tapping his staff against the floor a couple times.
Jarril nods. "Aye that's what I found out. Couldn't find any information on Longears or Starbreeze Fleetpaw at all. Doesn't matter, the book I am doing really doesn't need that information."
"Nah, what 'm sayin' is we prob'ly 'ave inf'mation like tha'." Keiran chuckles. "S'jus' not kept 'n th'lib'ry. Soun's like y'd be lookin' f'somethin' kept by th'Abbey R'corder-- Tomes o'tha' sort are kept 'n th'Gate 'ouse, where th'Recorder takes residence, tradition'ly."
Quinten shifts at the mention of the recorder and moves towards the two bucks "Did you say the recorder's records Brother?"
Keiran's ears flick, and he turns toward Quinten. "Yeh, s'wha' I said. Oh, didn' y'say y'wanted t'apprentice under th'Recorder? 'r maybe somebeas' else tol' me tha'."
Quinten nods "I told you Brother...and well its something i want to be able to do, fer the patrol you know so i need to learn"
Jarril keeps quiet for the time being as he nods his head on certain parts of it. "Well, I can check up on those records later. I can carry on without that information for the time being."
Keiran grins to Quinten, then to Jarril. "A'righ'. 'f y'need any 'elp with anythin', 'n th'lib'ry 'r elsewhere, jus' lemme know." At that, he gives a bow to both of the other hares, and returns to heading towards his previous destination of the staircase.
Quinten bobs on his paws and nods "Ok Brother, mayhaps you can show me the recorder records later?"
Jarril hmms and looks at Quinten. "Well, I best get back upstairs and write some more. Ya keep up on ya training I should help ya on fighting another time." He turns to go.
Keiran nods to Quinten as he walks, pausing for a moment. "Sure, jus' let me know when y'c'n go, an' 'opefully I won' be busy. Righ' now, m'sorta occupied, though, heh." He grins, shrugging apologetically. "Talk to y'later."
Quinten nodsa nd salutes "Well i need to get back to my training like
the Major said so i'll see you soon Brother"
