RW Abbey: Entry
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a sandy area between Great Hall and the main gates of the Abbey.
It obviously gets a great deal of traffic, if one is to judge by the number
of pawprints going every which direction here. There is an obvious path
leading to the double doors of Great Hall, which stand propped open to
allow the interior some relief from the heat of the season. There are patches
of wildflowers lining the area, and a large virginia creeper twines between
the stained glass windows and one side of Great Hall's doors, ever seeking
a path upward.
The rising sun brings a soft glow to the old Abbey stones. The air is
crisp and a little chilly, and there is a thin layer of dew on the grass
and birdsong from the direction of the pond.

Well, Harper was unable to locate the Major last night during his search and so gave up, assuming that the older buck was spending the night at the 67th. At this point, he's taking a brief break between the end of his morning chores and the beginning of his classes. He's sitting in a patch of grass, looking toward the gate expectantly.
Walking through the grounds, Jarril has finished on of the patrols. Walking towards the grounds he spots Harper and waves a paw. "Hello, finished classes have we?"
Harper looks around to Jarril, on his feet before the other buck has even finished speaking. He quickly moves forward, digging something from his packet. "Jarril! Um, no. Haven't started, yet. I was looking for you, though. Flaxpaw came home last night! She brought," and here he holds out a folded, dog-eared bit of parchment, "this. 'Tis from Endah."
Jarril blinks and takes the parchment from Harper and looks at it. "Oh and what exactly is it I wonder?" The hare opens it up and begins to read.
"I don't know what could've happened, sir, but I thought you'd want to see it..." Harper drops his gaze uncertainly, looking at the back of the note as if reading it through the parchment itself.
The look on Jarril's face changes within a few seconds, starting from being happy and content from doing a patrol about Mossflower, seeing his son as it slowly changes, his face dropping as he rereads the words again until he has the look of concern on his face, then worry. Folding the piece of paper up he looks at Harper. "I have to go." The hare starts to walk around Harper in the direction of the gate.
He seems to be on the same page as Jarril with the 'having to go' bit, up until the point that Jarril heads directly for the gate. He turns, eyes widening slightly. "Sir! Wait! Shouldn't you..." His brow creases with worry. "Shouldn't you... gather some supplies, first? Or... some hares? Or... something?" He takes a step forward after him, looking unsure.
Jarril doesn't stop walking but stops. "Harper..." The hare turns around with worry. "It's your aunt, well I think she is anyways." Frowning slightly. "There's something wrong with my cousin, Ender left a message, saying that something terrible's happened at the mountain and her. I cannot stay here." Frowning a bit. "Fine, but I want ta leave as soon as possible and I am not going ta be held down by supplies. I'll take runnah rations and that's it." He looks about. "And the sixty seventh can't spare anymore hares, we already sent a few sending Quinten back. So I go alone, ya still have training ta do but. Go run and find out who wants ta leave. It's their choice, I however am heading back home."
Harper moves forward to stand beside Jarril, looking toward the gate. "I could come... if ya wanted...?" Unfortunately, the way he says it makes it rather obvious he's only saying it because he feels obligated to his father. Or concerned for. Something like that.
Turning his head to face Harper, the hare nods his head. "Fine, go and tell whoever ya need ta tell that ya leaving, explain ta them why. I am going ta run up ta our base and get supplies from there. Don't bring anything from the abbey, unless ya can get some healing supplies. I be waiting just on the grasslands outside of here with two travelling packs." He starts to walk away. "Try and keep up with me as well."
Harper's ears flatten back, but he squares his shoulders and nods, offering a quick salute. "... Sir. I know this is a strange request, but... if she'd want to, could... could Flaxpaw come? She wouldn't hold us up, 'n' I..." He shrugs, looking back toward the Hall. "... I'll go speak with all the rest," he adds. Mm-hm.
Jarril stops and turns around. "Fine but if she does anything wrong then be it on ya head, Harper. She's under ya command, she's not in the patrol so she's ya responsibility."
Harper looks immediately relieved and he offers a brief and wavering grin. "Thanks, Jarril. Ya won't regret it." He flashes a quick salute and turns. "I'll go let the Brothahs 'n' Sistahs know 'n' then I'll run straight fer the 67th to let everyone know!" And off he runs.
The words of Harper hasn't hit the ears of Jarril as he's already ran off as soon as he has spoken last, the hare making quick results over the grass area of the abbey and out of the main gate, just barely giving enough time to say goodbye to the gate keeper before vanishing heading south along the dirt road.
Harper room-pages, "I figure we can have them send a message by bird
to the Patrol and have it get back to them partway there, so that the recruit
types can turn back for the abbey while Jarril heads on. I don't need another
Taye-ish char at the mountain. XD It'd get confusing.".
