The little rock fort has appeared in the crater again. Resting inside is the small squirrel kit, lying on her stomach while her head rests on an open book. Audri has fallen asleep reading it seems, murmuring quietly to herself, ears flicking a few times as she dreams.
Coming up from down below, the major slowly enters the top of the mountain and looks about the surrounds again. With a flask in paw, a small bumdle which is wrapped dry leaves in the other, Jarril blinks at the sleeping squirrel and smiles slightly before making his way over to the edge and sitting down gently. Carefully, he starts to unwrap his small parcel that holds a few warm but freshly made scones. He carefully places them down beside him and picks one up, blowing on it gently while looking out to sea.
Lumar shuffles up shortly after the major, a cloak wrapped about his shoulders, and a book held tight in his arms. He is very quiet as he makes his way up the rocks, not wanting to attract too much attention.
Audri's nose twitches, eyes slowly opening at the smell of fresh scones. Slowly stretching, the kits crawls out from her little fort, heading in the direction of the major. She stops right beside the fresh scones, raising a paw to tug on Jarril's pants. "Can Ah 'ave a scon pwease?"
Jarril blinks and looks down at Audri for a moment. "Ah, ya make a great hare one day with a nose like that, wot." He nods his head and smiles. "Aye, take one but be careful, they're a bit warm but should be cool enough ta handle."
Lumar finds a nice little spot where he can sit, the rocks kindof forming a natural little chair. Opening his book, and taking out a few writing/drawing supplies, he sets himself to his recently accquired hobby, reading tactical manuscripts and editing them...
Audri smiles brightly, nodding to Jarril before picking up a scone. "Fank 'oo vewi much." Audri blows on her treat a few times, taking a small bite with a pleased 'mmm'.
Jarril nods and returns back to looking out to the vast sea in front of him, some dark clouds floating sideways with the faintest sound of thunder, though only barely audioable. "Hmmm, looks like a storm is out there. Heading south though." The major gets rid of his scone in one mouthful. "So what brought ya up here, little 'un?"
Lumar blinks at a certain spot in the book he's reading, double checking a few things. He scribbles a few things out, then a few more, and then yet more. Finally, he just rips the page out and tosses it aside,...there...that's better...
Audri hmms, swallowing her bite, eyes turning up to Jarril again. "Ah watchin fow big biwdies." Stuffing the rest of the scone in her dress pocket, Audri limps over to the edge, right leg still bandaged, glancing down at the shore curiously.
Jarril watches Audri carefully. "Oh they're probably inland, they kinda do that if there's just a slight chance of a storm, the bally scaredgulls." Popping the cork out of his flask, the major takes a sip. "Just don't go feeding them though, we don't want a big pile of rotten seagulls on top of the mountain, doncha know."
Audri shakes her head, frowning some. "Not seaguwws, 'awkahs. Dese big 'n pweddy 'n make funni noises." Audri leans over the edge more, footpaws wiggling. "Do 'oo go on patwows 'n stuff?"
Lumar begins to make a small drawing on the manuscript, but then runs out of room. Turning to a small rock, he continues his drawing on it, then the next rock, and so on...
Jarril nods his head slowly. "Aye, I've been on patrols, under a command and actually command a patrol myself now. I've think I have walked further than most would do in their entire seasons." The major taking a bigger swig of his drink now. "Probably seen a lot more than most others as well. Good and bad." Grinning slightly. "Why, interested in it then?"
Audri's ears perk, listening the major with the upmost interest. She shakes her head at his question, glancing down at the sea again. "N'uh. Ah wants ta be a 'eawah Ah fink. Ah been studyin...sowta. Do 'oo gets ta wawk by de ocean 'n stuff on patwow?"
Lumar catches a scrap of the other's voices on the breeze, being as he's a bit ways from them. Closing his book, he looks around until he spots them, and then begins the small hike over to join them.
Jarril places the flask down and nods. "Regularly. Ya see, we're mainly the ones ta protect the mainland from any evil sea corsairs or nasty things that wish ta invade these lands." Pausing for a moment. "Although, now and again we're sent elsewhere whenever help is needed."
Audri nods, ears falling some. Sighing, she rests her head on her arms, claws tapping against the stone.
Jarril smiles as he spots something and getting up, he picks up Audri gently as he carefully places her on his shoulder and points out. "Like can ya see that lot down there. There's a new patrol heading out now ta the north. I doubt they hear ya but why not wave ta them." The major spotting Lumar and giving a slight nod before looking out again from the top of the mountain. "They be gone for a few days, living it rough under the stairs so ta speak."
Audri blinks, ears perking up as she's suddenly on the hare's shoulder. She instinctively holds onto the base of his ears, helping to keep her balance while she squints to see the patrol leaving. "'ay." Smiling meekly, Audri waves her paw at the leaving hares.
Lumar slips on a few loose rocks, falling flat on his face briefly before picking himself back up. As he reaches Jarril and Audri, he gives a happy wave, smiling and coming up beside them, book still cluched tightly in his other paw.
Jarril turns his head and blinks. "I don't think we've met." Looking at Lumar for a moment as he keeps a good hold of Audri as he looks out at the quickly dissappearing patrol. "How long have ya been at the mountain?"
Lumar thinks for a moment as Jarril addresses him, then holds up his free paw, showing the number four. His book slips a bit from his grip and he quickly wraps both paws tightly around it.
Audri watches the patrol as they begin to fade into the distance. She glances down at Lumar, offering a small smile before turning back to stare at the ocean.
Jarril nods at Lumar and continues to let Audri get a better view from on top of his shoulder. "I see, my apologies then." He looks at the rabbit for a moment. "So what's ya name?"
Lumar begins to answer, opening his mouth briefly, before closing it and frowning. He gives a sad smile to Jarril, hugging his book like many dibbuns do a doll, or favorite toy.
Audri glances back down at Lumar again, before giving a small tug on Jarri's ear. "'is name izza Wumaw."
Jarril smiles. "That's okay. Look, I have a spare scone over there. Why don't ya go take it." He watches Lumar for a moment and speaks to Audri. "Enjoying the view up there, wot?"
"Yesh. Can see wots mowe." Audri sighs, tail flicking some. She pulls out her scone again, nibbling on it quietly.
Lumar goes over to retrieve the offered scone, and comes back to stand beside the others once more, nibbling very lightly on the little treat.
Jarril nods and smiles. "Thanks for saying Lumar's name though." He smiles at the rabbit. "Well, pleasure in meeting ya Lumar and welcome ta the mountain. I am Major Jarril Fleetpaw at ya service." Looking back to Audri, he grins. "So, why don't ya become very important Audri. We need someone like ya right now on looking out for ships. Think ya good at that?"
"'oo wewcome vewy much." Audri replies once her scone is finished, dusting the crumbs off her dress. Her ears perk up, eyes blinking a few times, before she bobs her head in a happy nod. "U'uh. Ah can do dat! Ah good fow watchin 'n Ah gots suppwies too so Ah don't gots ta weave."
Lumar nods happily, and continues to munch on the scone, sticking the whole lot into his mouth to soften it up before swallowing.
Jarril doesn't speak now but just watches out as well, staring at the far away storm clouds far out at sea.
"Can Ah go teww 'a a'fowe Ah watch fow ships?" Audri asks, bouncing with excitement on Jarril's shoulder.
Lumar tugs on Jarril's pant leg and points to Audri's rock fort in explanation.
Jarril slowly puts Audri down and chuckles. "I don't see why not.
They couldn't see ya from up here anyways." He moves over to where
his flask is and smiles. "But I wouldn't stay here ta long though.
Wind is picking up and it may get a bit chilly." Starting to move
away, he stops. "Oh, yeah. Don't be late for evening meal.
Heard the old otter cook has made a huge trifle." Winking slightly.
"I bid ya both farewell for now, I have duties ta perform."
