RW Abbey: Great Hall
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Great Hall of Redwall Abbey. Countless paw falls have echoed from
these stones, and untold numbers of feasts and merry gatherings have been
held here. A table, not nearly so grand or large as its predecessors,
but quite functional for mealtimes, rests near the center of the hall.
Chairs exist here aplenty, though most of them are obviously not from the
same set. Many of the stained glass windows are broken, and have been patched
with canvas and boards to fend against the elements. The floor is clean
and swept. A fire is kept burning in the fireplace at almost all times
of the day and night, and there are several more comfortable chairs and
cushions set up here, of varying sizes. One looks large enough to easily
accommodate a badger.
The Tapestry hangs proud and tall, and while the rest of Redwall may
still bear the scars of natural disaster, this most famous of Redwall's
relics remains unharmed by beast, time, or the elements. The figure of
Martin the Warrior seems to be watching over his own with an unchanging,
kindly gaze.

Tempest swoops in through the door, nearly hitting her head on the top of the frame. She's moving fast, and only a last minute spreading of her wings allows her to alight on the mantle without crashing.
Marigold chuckles and nods her head. The badger seems calm, not at all perplexed by the damage that runs through the place, it seems to be on it's way up, anyways. She is about to reply when her short ears flicker back and her head turns quickly, a paw grasping back for the staff that isn't there. At first her eyes flash but she breaths in quickly, regaining herself. Her eyes follow up to the bird, and she smiles, turning back to the hare. "My apologies. Been in the wilderness to long, it seems." She explains and manages a small smile.
Jarril idly pads in from outside, slowly while fixing the eye-patch again on his head, it somehow managing for the third time to slip out of position. His mind isn't into looking where he is going at this moment in time and he stops a few paces inside and finishes the task, muttering to himself.
"Ahh - not a problem." Zoe shrugs and glances over towards the sparrow and then back to Marigold. "'Twas a natural enough reaction."
Kestrel pads down the stairs, taking them two at a time. She's grinning at something that she has cupped between her paws.
Marigold takes this time to observe the others filtering into the room. The badger seems a bit taken aback, not used to being around so many! She cold gaze flickers in a smile, however, when she spots the dibbun. Turning, the badger leans closer to the hare. "Do many live here, Miss?"
Jarril moves over to the side and leans agains the stone wall of the room and after wriggling his whiskers slightly to test the new position of the eye-patch, the hare nods approvingly. Crossing his arms about his chest, he goes about listening to the conversations floating about the room, ears erect and attentive.
"A.. decent numbah." This Zoe says consideringly, but none too specifically, either. She, too, sends a glance around the room as others begin to filter in, and her gaze alights on Jarril, but given his current predicament with the eye patch, she doesn't call out to him. She looks back to Marigold. "New t' the area?"
Kestrel skips forward. "Lookit," she says eagerly, and to no one in particular. "A'found it. Lookit, lookit..." She holds out her cupped paws, but doesn't open them.
Kylie walks down the stairs just stopping to lean against the doorway as she sucks on a paw. Looking for a familiar face she doesn't see anybody to close to her so she just continues to lean against the doorway paw in mouth.
Marigold looks back at Zoe, whose attention had once again been taken by the others coming in. She nods slowly. "Ah yes, came from the East, I did... Hoped to see the Abbey... But I must have been mistaken! I thought it were mice that filled these halls." He remarks noting all the hare she had seen in the entry and now here. "It would seem like I stumbles 'pon Salamandaston it's self!" She says, supressing a slight laugh.
"Well, yer half righ'. The hares you've been seein' come from the Fire Mountain, righ' enough." Zoe grins a bit, reaching a paw out over the pile of books to offer her paw. "Colonel Francis of the Long Patrol, at yer service."
Kestrel frowns and looks down at her paws. She cracks them slightly to peek in, then squeals as something very small, red, and winged buzzes right past her face. "See? See?"
Kylie looks at Kestrel as she hears another dibbun sort of voice. Seeing the 'thing' fly outher eyes grow wider and she nods as if to answer Kestrel's question but not really trying to get anybeast to see her nod. Remaining where she is she just watches still sucking on her paw.
Marigold leans over and takes the paw graciously. "Well! 'Tis an honor, it is. The reputation of your hares travel farther than you'd think, I'm sure!" She remarks kindly and pulls her paw away after a solid shake. Standing back, the badger seems a bit uneasy in the presence of so many. Her kind were more solitary than this. "Well, I think I'll explore the Abbey a bit. Oh, and compliments on the gate hares, they were very polite, you must train them well." She turns and moves over to the staff, carefully sliding it into the straps on her back, she moves towards the entry once more, giving a curt nod of her head. "Good day." She says to the room, and no one in particular.
Jarril gives off a polite nod to the badger but remains where he is against the wall, such the way for this particular hare.
Kestrel scrambles after the insect, trying to recapture it. It stays just above her stunted reach however, and she growls with frustration. "A'come back here."
With the badgermaid gone, Zoe glances around for Jarril again and spotting him, she beckons him over.
Jarril blinks with his only eye and pads over slowly to where Zoe sits, paws behind his back and he gives a small nod. Speaking in a soft positive tone. "Yes, Colonel?"
Kylie watches Kestrel smiling a bit as she watches the bug.
Kestrel claps her paws over the insect as it lands on the wall. "Got you." She then squeals again, this time with laughter. "S'ticklin' me..."
Through the paw sucking Kylie lets out a giggle from jsut watching Kestrel.
"Colonel, is it?" Zoe smirks at the formality, and then her shoulders jerk up in a shrug. "Just.. ah, well. Didn't really have anythin' in particular t' say." Hee.
Jarril smiles a bit more. "Well, cousin, I wasn't sure if it was a formal thing ya wanted." Placing a paw under his chin. "So since this is informal. How's ya day been?"
Rurun tries to sneak down the stairs unnoticed but mistakenly thumps his cane on the wall making a thud he gives a jolt at this shutting both eyes afraid to see if he had been noticed.
Kylie jumps as she hears the cane thud against the wall. Still leaning on the doorway at the bottom of the stairs she definetly hears and looks back seeing Rurun but not knowing him she just stares at him for a moment then turn back around to watch Kestrel.
Kestrel sits down, looking at her clasped paws with perked ears.
Rurun slowly opens one eyes after another then seeing as he had not been noticed he tucks his cane beneath his arm and continues down the steps with a long exhale of relief.
"Since when is anythin' I say formal?" Hee. Well, you know, except for when it is. Zoe leans back in the uncomfy chair and grins, paws folding in her lap. "Day's been fine. Just lookin' ovah some o' the abbey library's books. Healerly stuff - ya know. 'Tis fascinatin' stuff." She then tilts her head. "How've /you/ been, cousin?"
Jarril replies back while standing there. "Looking around the grounds, heading out for a run. Have ta keep in shape, wot." The hare still proud of his abilities of a runner. "So, erm. Find anything interesting that isn't in our library?"
Rurun makes it past the steps without much incident and slowly sits down on the oppisite side of the great hall before taking in all that is happening in the hall with his ears at attention his eyes never resting on one beast for to long.
Rurun coughs lightly or at least what would of been lightly had it not been for the echoing properties of the great hall.
"Aye - a bit. There's not nearly as much abou' battle wounds, a'course, but there's a good deal more on everyday illnesses 'n' the like." This Zoe says with a thoughtful nod, and appears about to say something more when Rurun's cough distracts her. She glances up and across to him.
Rurun smiles ruefully before apologizing. "Sorry.
Rurun notices the rank and quickly add's a colonel.
Jarril turns his head to face Rurun and grins turning his head back to Zoe. "Well, I have ta get back ta it. I see ya later perhaps?"
"No need t' apologize, fightah." This Zoe says with a small grin, noticing the pause before the addition of 'colonel'. She then glances back to Jarril as he speaks, and she nods in reply. "Aye - I'm always abou'. See ya latah, Jar."
Jarril nods again and turns around, making his way off and stops to
look at Rurun. "Perhaps ya should get something for that tickly throat,
wot." Grinning, the major continues on his way to another part of
the abbey.
