Salamandastron: Caverns - Archery Range
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
As the training room cannot fit a truly adequate, large enough archery
range, this large room, down in the caverns of the mountain, has been converted
into one. It, in itself, is rather cavernous, and is more long than it
is wide. The furthest wall from the entrance is lined with archery targets,
at least a ten, and they are each separated by a few feet. Along the closest
wall to the door, barrels are placed, containing arrows as well as bows,
to practice with. Further, the walls are lined with torches, though the
ones behind the archery targets are protected by metal grates, of a sort.
The room is relatively well lit, and is usually a moderate temperature.

Slipping a shaft again into the bow, the major Jarril continues to practise his time on the archery range. Pulling both arms up, he tenses and stares down at the target before letting his arrow fly right into the bulleye.
Burdock pops his head around the door. He shuffles sideways in, keeping quiet. He observes the good shooting by Jarril and lets his eyes search the room and every beast in it. One of his ears is half bent and his nose quivers.
And, in comes Colonel Zoe. She surveys the room briefly, noticing both Jarril and then Burdock, as well as the others practicing in the room, but instead of going over to Jarril to chat, which she'd prefer, she limps up behind Burdock, and then clears her throat lightly to grab his attention. "Burdock, innit?" She quirks a brow in question.
Jarril slips another shaft into his trusted bow and keeping it pointed to the floor he calls out to the ones hiding behind. "Alright, can ya swing that sand bag for me, wot!" Watching as the sandbag is pushed sideways, Jarril goes back to concertrating. Moving his arm slightly side to side he takes a deep breath, holds and releases the arrow to go smack into the centre of the sack, sand trickling down from the hole.
Telek busies himself in the corner replacing his bow string. Currently he is removing the old frayed by way of bending the bow with a longer string trapped under foot paw and slipping the string off as it falls slack. Slowly he releases the pressure on the weapon and goes about finding a new string from his affects not paying much attention to his surroundings.
Just behind Burdock stands a rather intimidating figure, his eyes narrowed dangerously as he stares down at the hare, hazel hue tinted ever so slightly by a very aggravated red color. Bludstripe coughs and stands at his full height, very nearly scraping the ceiling with his crimson striped brow. He has the same idea as Zoe, except his is probably going to end up more painful for Burdock in the end.
Burdock's ears stand on end and he gives a little jump, turning around. Upon seing Zoe his eyes crease in worry. "Errm, Yes Marm?" he tries to stand up straight and smooths a bit of fur between his red ears.
Now why would Oxeye wander down here? The fighter, looking refreshed and well-rested, steps into the range after a rather large badgerbum. He tilts his head, eyes scanning the unusually busy chamber. No Triss. Phoey. But there is a Zoe. So the hare idles, near the door.
Rahier slips in behind Blud, looking between him, Zoe, and Burdock. He uhohs, and creeps over to the barrels holding the bows, peering over.
However, Zoe notices the shadow of Bludstripe fall over her, and she glances over her shoulder briefly, and even though the look isn't for her, she still wilts under the biting gaze. She flicks him a nervous grin and steps aside. "Er... all yers, Bludstripe." She coughs lightly, her gaze shifting towards Burdock with something nearing sympathy - but, it falls short. She simply shrugs to herself and takes another step back, clearing the way for the Badger Lord.
Giving a sideways glance, Jarril looks at the situation and shrugs, knowing he's not exactly needed and therefore goes back to picking up another arrow to choose another target, that of a apple on top of a barrel. A few seconds later and Jarril's ears are standing erect on pleasure of another target well hit.
Burdock quivers all over, gazing slowly up at the large badger. He comes up to attention. "Y-yes, yer Badger Lordship, Sah?" his whiskers shake so badly that they blur infront of his eyes. No need to smooth his fur now, its everywhere.
"I'm not going to hurt you yet young 'un, so stop your shakin'. But, Last time I checked traitors, and prisoner aids spent all their time in the cells. You have 5 seconds to give me a good reason not to haul you by the scruff to the nearest holding pen, and toss you bodily into it." His voice is like ice, his hackles raising slightly as he steps closer, mear inches from the hare as he towers over him, gaze cast down looking more and more angry by the moment. "Well?!" He barks out, holding up a paw with all five digits extended. A countdown.
Burdock hols an arms over his face. "I... I'm sorry, Sah! 'E tricked me, the blasted vermin! Made me think 'e was ah friend! Got meh all excited and I left 'ee cell in such ah 'urry I fergot tah shut it! I knew I was in trouble... an' Sedo said I should run fer it... didn't want to Sah, but I t'was scared!"
We-ell... if you don't mind, Zoe doesn't like the sight of blood unless it's vermin blood, so! She turns quickly on her heel and limps over to Jarril and his archery range - of course, she stands behind. "G'day, Jarril.." She quirks a brow. "Ya.. -may- want t' cover yer ears just about now, doncha know?" Her own ears have wilted back against her skull. And, when Blud speaks, she winces, but all the same she gives a satisfied smirk. "Serves 'im righ'." Vindictive? Never. She turns 'round, to watch the spectacle, and then spies Oxeye, at which point she can't help but grin. Ahhh.
Jarril mis-fires a arrow when he hears Bludstripes voice, the hare's ears moving down slightly and he goes to turn around to tell them to be quiet but stops with his mouth open. Closing it again he watches, bow in his left paw, held lightly.
Telek slips the second looped end of the string over its hook and lays the bow aside. The vocal display from nearby attracts his attention and he wanders over curious as to its nature.
Rahier watches intently, idly shifting some bows around in the barrel. He tilts his head at Burdock's explanation, brow raising.
Jarril looks at the colonel and gives her a small salute, before giving Burdock a look with a shake of his head. "Glad he ain't in my patrol." Frowning slightly as he turns his look to Zoe again. "Speaking of which." The major runs a paw through his headfur, also keeping his ears down a lot more in the process. "Any news on Lain?"
Oxeye's own eyes follow Jarril at this point. Big Badgerbum and his yelling -- although well-merited -- isn't the most preferable spectacle. His gaze then falls on Zoe, and indeed, his grin returns.
Her grin fading at Jarril's question of Lain, Zoe returns her attention to the major and shakes her head. "No, no news, jus' yet.. I s'pose we'll have t' send out a patrol t' make contact with 'em and ask 'em.. what they want." She gives a light shrug and restrains a sigh, before twitching an ear at Burdock's explanation. Oh, no, that will not doubt. She excuses herself from Jarril and limps back over to the two. "Sah. He returned the weasel's weapons to 'im. As a result, fightah Morrow was injured - an arrow-wound t' the thigh."
The badger's gaze does no soften, all the fingers now clasped to his palm. "Tricked you?! Son, you are lucky that filthy beast didn't shove a blade between your ribs. Now another beast is injured for your negligence. Hellsteeth, you're lucky I don't whup you within an inch of your life right now. That vermin knew too much to be let go! Now hes going to warn his peers further, and this blasted "war" we have will become something much worse!" He sighs exasperatedly and roars, throwing a fist at the door frame above Burdock, splintering the wood. A little frustration worked out. "I'm glad you stayed. Shows charcter. You're hear by quarantined to the holding cell until further notice."
Jarril watches Zoe go and frowns before muttering. "I be volunteering ta take that patrol..." Moving quickly around, the arrow is in the bow and released in lighting speed to go slamming into the wooden target on the far side of the room. Speaking to himself more than anything. "I'll kill anyone who gets in the bally way as well."
Burdock bobs his head sadly. "Yes Sah, I'm sorry... if'n yeh want... yeh could trade me fer Lain... t'would be glad tah go..."
Telek lopes off back to his bow finding the grilling none of his concern and a bit disturbing.
Her message delivered, Zoe casts a glance at Oxeye, but doesn't go over to him. That, she thinks, would be too obvious. So! She returns to Jarril's side, nudging him lightly with elbow to his side. "You 'n' me both, cousin. Mayhaps we ought t' sick ole Badgy-lord on 'em." She looks across to Bludstripe, grinning appreciatively. "I think 'e just might manage t' kill 'em all, 'n' meanwhile we c'n have a sit-down fer tea."
Jarril places another arrow into his bow and replies back to Zoe with some hint of anger and hatred in his voice. "Mabbe after I had some fun with them. I owe them for a few things." Letting go, the arrow whistles in the air and slices through the previous arrow. Turning his head to the side, he smiles. "Then perhaps I let him." Winking. "Well, only if we had trifle and scones and cake."
Bludstripe growls loudly, and lifts Burdock by the neck scruff, barking out in his face. "The situation with Lain is being handled. I said you are quarantined." He turns to Zoe and the others, and roars aloud, Burdock still hoisted in one paw. "Is this funny to all of you?! Do you realize how serious this is?! Hmmm? No you don't. This is all one big game to you isn't it?" He drops Burdock roughly, and turns to fully face Jarril and Zoe. "Hares are being injured. Dying. Taken captive. This is not the time for jokes." He sighs and turns away from them shaking his head. "Burdock. Don't make me carry you to the cells. Jarril. Escort him, Now."
Burdock backs upon all fours, his look that of which could dim the sun. "Yes Sah... the holdin' cell, Sah... on meh way..." he turns and slinks out of the room without a backward glace.
Eyeing Bluddybum with some vague interest and... criticism, Ox leans back against the wall near the door. Wee. Fun to lurk.
Jarril blinks and leaves Zoe with a look of sadness as he pads up to where Bludstripe and Burdock is. Looking at Bludstripe. "Sah, I know it's serious, but got ta keep the troops happy. They have enough ta do eventually. And ya think I enjoy having one of my own taken from me." The major frowns at Blustripe and turns to face Burdock, the major follows, a slight frown on his face, deciding not to ask for permission to leave.
Salamandastron: Holding Cell
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
The holding cell is about as bare as a room can get. A long smooth
rock
shelf serves as a bed, and a medium-sized alcove to one side contains
lavaratory facilities. The door is a heavy-duty wooden affair,
with iron
crosstrees and reinforced hinges, and is barred from the outside.
A
small, square opening about head-level for most fully-grown hares is
closed with two sturdy iron bars, filling the space vertically.
A small
horizontal slot lower down (about in the middle of the door) provides
a
place to feed prisoners.

[Back] to the Caverns
Jarril comes in behind Burdock and looks outside of the door for the moment and then shuts it behind him. "Alright ya. We need ta have a slight talk." Crossing his arms about his chest. "Like for instance, the whereabouts of Lain?" The major leaning up against the wall.
Burdock turns to him. "Lain, Sah? I don't know. Sedo never said, Sah..." his eyes drop to the ground, and then... after a second... "But Sah, Sedo thinks I'm 'is friend... I could go track the blighter, find out where Lain 'tis..."
Jarril shakes his head. "Oh no, I ain't making the same bally mistake ya did in letting him go. The best thing is ta tell me where ya think he would go but then that isn't a problem. He be at that fort of their's where Lain is held." The major paused. "As for now, I be more worried about what will happen ta ya when ya go up in front of Bludstripe and the other colonels, lad."
Burdock eyes widen. "But Sah... I thought I just /did/ go up in front 'o 'em..." his ears flop to his side and the young hare's whiskers twitch.
Jarril pads slightly forwards and gives a slight growl. "Well, perhaps ya should keep this in mind then. If anything happens ta Lain whatsoever. Ya be wanting this vermin friend of ya's ta have killed ya." Making his way to the door, the major gives you one more look. "Think of that. She was well liked here." Opening the door, he backs out and closes it. Unseen, the major locks the door and then slumps against the wall and frowns, rubbing his temple, then the sound of his paws fade as he heads off.
Burdock rushes to the door, scared out of his wits. He grasps the bars and shouts. "But Sah, SAH! I knew where 'ee weasel went, Sah!"
Jarril stops and pads back to the door and looks inside. "I see what I can do, but if they won't allow it, they won't allow it." Making to move off again he turns his head one last time. "Sit down and be quiet. I won't make any promises but I have a word with my superiors." With that the major heads off properly.
Salamandastron: Caverns
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
These are the deepest, most catacomb-like passages and caverns, the
ones that
go into the the bowels of the mountain. These cold dark caverns
are sparsely
lit and contain several dead-end passages. Few hares frequent
here. This
area is the most catacomb-like not only because of its physical appearance,
but also because some of the caverns which the passages lead to serve
as tombs
for slain comrades. Several of the passages lead off to holding
cells for
captured prisoners.

And the ever-lovable Oxy grunts and falls silent, remaining certainly out-of-the-way. Avoid badger. Yes, good idea.
Jarril comes back from the holding cell area with a frown on his face, his entire body tense completely as he see's others in the hallway. "He's locked up good and proper, sah!" Looking at the badger. "Still says he knows how ta find this Sedo bloke as well, whether or not ya believe him or if he's just saying that ta get out from being in that cell, who can bally well tell."
"I'm sorry Zoe... I know... But I'm just so damned frustrated... I cannot help Lain... I cannot help any of them." Bludstripe whispers quietly. "I was too hard on Burdock... I'm always too hard on you all..." He puts a paw on the wall. "For all the strength I have, all I am now is a weak fool, praying that everything will be okay." He pounds the wall a couple times with his rolled up paw, dull thuds resounding in the cavern. "I have to do -something-." Its not often Blud shows this side, and thats because he -cannot- be weak in front of his hares. As Jarril walks in he turns to face him, and nods. "Good Major. I'm sorry for being so brusque earlier." He quirks a brow, "Knows how to find Sedo hmmm? Perhaps he can redeem himself..."
Taking Blud's apology in silence, feeling a bit awkward under the weight of it, Zoe shifts her weight uncomfortably and takes the first out of the conversation that she can - discussion of Sedo. "'Tis no point, really.. The corsairs wanted 'im released, anyway, and we migh' yet hope that he'll return t' his mates so that they'll at least see we're somewhat in.. good faith. If'n we run off t' capture him again, he might end up dead, this time 'round." She jerks her shoulders up in a shrug, and throughout all of this her eyes never leave Bludstripe - she's worried about her old friend. But, she won't say anything more with Oxeye and Jarril here. It would embarrass him.
Jarril shakes his head, not knowing of anything going on but responds to Bludstripe. "Sah, it should be me apologising. I've been so worked up the last couple of days since...." He stopped and took a deep breath. "I had thought of thumping some sense into that lad." Pointing to where Burdock is held. "But that won't help and I doubt this Sedo person isn't in that fort of theirs now. But apology accepted. Now if ya excuse me." The major makes to leave the area. "I have some things ta do alone."
"Your point is taken Zoe." Bludstripe says with a nod, as he straightens himself up. "And as for the tense air thats been hanging over the mountain... We -all- need to lighten up. Me most of all. Jarril, the buck is to stay in that cell until dinner tonight. No need to punish the lad more than he deserves. I think he learned his lesson." Blud manages a week smile as he pads for the stairs, voice calling back, "Oxeye, if you tell another soul what you saw here I will have you on latrine duty until you're old enough to be -my- grandfather."
Oxeye raises a brow, regarding the badger with a hint of a smirk. But he nods, throwing a rather crisp salute. Odd behavior for Oxeye. "Ah, o'course, sah." Mmmhmm.
Jarril has already gone from the area, moving quickly up the stairs,
but noting the order anyways. He makes plans to pass that down to
one of his lieutenants.
