TRAINING GROUNDS
*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*%*
You walk into a huge area surrounded by building and paths all
around it. A small shack stands near the path towards the forge
which is locked upand contains mostly weapons and such things.
Near the bonfire area, a few targets are set up along side each
other. Stands for the arrows are a few feet back where the arrows
will be shot from. There are no arrows in those stands. Most of
the are either locked up or carried by the beasts of the camp.
The area is covered in sand all around. Yet again making it soft
on the footpaws. There are lit torches all around the area. Trees
are scattered about as well but on the other side of the grounds
and in between the buildings. One of the trees on the opposite
side is a treefort to be used by the dibbuns. Paths wind in
different directions away from the training grounds.

IMPORTANT SIGN FOR BEASTS CURRENTLY AT CAMP NUEVA
Padding out from where the path leads to the cabins. The hare's ears bouncing about around the back of his head as he looks this way and that, taking in what is happening in the camp. Bowing his head to a mouse running in front of him before heading off he shakes his head for a moment and looks about, debating on what was he supposed to be doing anyways. As if the answer came to him, the hare's ears shoot up straight at attention and remembering that he had to go check on his comrade and begins to pad towards the infirmary.

INFIRMARY SIGN -READ PLEASE-
Sounds can be heard from outside, the voice of Jarril's who is discussing about visiting one of his fellow runner pals with the female mouse. "Oh can't I just see her for a short while. I have ta check on her and report back ta my superiors, doncha know. I get in so much trouble if I can't get this task done." His ears twist about in front of the mousemaid and he smiles. "Ya wouldn't want ta get me into no trouble, do ya wot?" Silence ensues for a few moments before the female voice of the mouse comes through quietly. "Okay, but please keep your voice down as there are some very sick beasts in there. Don't make me kick you out." Jarril blinks and puts on a shocked look of horror, his ears drooping down. "Of course I be as good as a dibbun can be just before bath-time, wot. Ya won't have any trouble from me." Some more words are exchanged before Jarril's ears come into view from the door and then his head. Blinking about he slips inside and looks about, walking quietly down the room.
A pair of multi-coloured ears can be seen near the well-banked fire. Both are bend double and curled around a head covered in soft head-fur, the only difference is that they are both shivering violently. The body of the haremaid Kenai lies under a pile of fire-warmed blankets and hot bricks around the edges of the tucked blankets. Despite the fact she is sweating, Kenai still shivers violently, a cough of two escaping her throat and renting the air with a sound to make anyone wince. She doesn't see Jarril enter, but perks a shaking ear at the sound of the door and voices.
Jarril's head turns about slowly, his eyes slowly moving to take into account for the dim light in the room as his paws make quiet as possible noises as he looks over the cots from left to right, seeing a hare that stares back before coughing a bit. To the right, Jarril blinks and see's another beast lying in the cot, not looking very old at all as he blinks at the small red squirrel dibbun who whimpers slightly before a larger red paw strokes the paw as a soothing female voice coo's, "Shhh. I am here. You're mothers here." Turning her head around to face Jarril she sighs and looks at him. "Are you a healer?" Shaking his head back in reply. "Afraid not, ma'am. There's one outside that is preparing more herbs and wotnot. I am sure she be here shortly." He takes another look at the small squirrel before returning his gaze back to the older squirrel. "Ya know what's wrong with the little one?" Jarril enquires, his ears twitching slightly as he bounces slightly like he always does when standing, paws behi
paws behind his back. The squirrelmaid replies back. "No. And the healers don't know what it is yet either." Nodding his head, Jarril smiles. "Oh I am sure he be alright. He looks like a good strong one, wot. If ya excuse me." Bowing slightly, letting his ears drop down in front of him before coming back up, he turns and continues to walk down the line of the cots and spots Kenai sitting near the fire. Moving slowly up to her as he stops two paw steps away. Putting on a firm but quiet voice. "Ya better have a good excuse for why I had ta go on patrol scout before sunrise this morning while ya there sitting next ta the fire?"
Kenai tries to move to look at Jarril and the voice in the room, but is stopped by a healer replacing a hot brick near her side. "Sorry...sah" she croaks, "Bit ill this mornin' doncha know." Turning as far as she can, Kenai can just see him from the corner of her eye, "Good noon t'you-" she is caught in mid-sentence by a cough, but continues, "Jarril." come the croaked end to the sentence, barely audible to even the healer replacing a top blanket soaked with sweat.
Jarril stands there as he moves to the side away from the same mouse healer to whom he had spoken to a few moments ago. Seeing the healer frown at him, the hare gives a look of depair as he hadn't done nothing wrong. Trying to get into the mouse's good books. "Erm, excuse me. But there's a squirrel over there with a sick dibbun. She's quite worried doncha know and I am a bit concerned as well." He pauses and thinks for a moment, bouncing slightly on his legs. "I be very much obliged and ya have my utmost thanks if ya could check on the poor little one, wot." As he speaks, Jarril shifts his weight about on one paw and points to the cot with a arm, letting the uniform meld and change shape as he does so he see's the female squirrel smile back and mouth the words. 'Thank you.' Looking back to the mouse who had finished attending to Kenai, he see's her nod slowly and pushing herself up and makes her way to the squirrel. Putting his full attention back to the hare in question, sitting on the floor. "A bit i
"A bit ill?" His ears stand up tall and quiver. "I say ya a bit more than a bit ill, wot." His legs continue to move slightly as he bobs up and down, a trait with runners perhaps? "So do ya know what ya got? What has the healers said." He sighs and looks about again to where the squirrels lie and see's the mouse touch the dibbun on the forehead with a shake of his head. Moving his view back to Kenai again he continues. "Ya know I wouldn't pester ya about this but I wanted ta know how ya are since yesterday and have ta report ya condition ta one of the Majors." He remains silent again but continues to bob gently on his legs.
Kenai sighs, trying to roll over but stopped by a healer yet again. "You didn't 'ave to-" she coughs again, shivering once she stops, "You didn't 'ave to come 'ere. You'll fall ill and that will bring the entire company down with no runners." she wips sweat from her brow as her ears flop over again. "Jarril, you don't need to tell the-" another cough, "...the majors anythin'...I'll be well agin in a few days, wot." Laying back down she pants with the effort and is wound up in her hot blankets again.
Jarril frowns, finding that his right footpaw begins to tap on the floor, making a thumping noise that attracts the mouse who hisses at Jarril to be quiet. Moving his head to face the healer he looks down to the ground and nods his head, the paw freezing in it's position. "Kenai, I do hope that'cha right and all." He remains quiet and frowns for a moment to not having much to say at all for the moment.
Kenai sighs and moves a bit as a healer places newly wamred bricks near her feet. "Jarril, don't worry 'bout me chap," she coughs again, "Tell the majors an' Bludstripe that I've fallen a bit ill, should be out in jus' a few day, wot." she sighs and settles into her blankets, "Please don' worry 'bout me Jarril, the jolly ol' 'ealers will fuss o'er me then."
Jarril with a tightening of his lips, the hare's head nods slowly sending his ears to droop forwards over his eyes. Moving his head back again, the left ear staying in front of his eyes. Jarril frowns and tries to blow it up but only manages to move it a short distance before flopping down to irritate his whiskers. Moving a paw up to push the ear back up and letting it spring back to attention, he looks to where the female mouse is tending to the squirrel dibbun, trying to feed the small bundle with some medicine but the coughing gets into the way of that task. "Do ya want me ta leave so ya get some peace and quiet?" Turning his head halfway to face Denai and looks at the healer who's tending her. "Also get out of the way as well, wot."
Jarril opens the door that leads outside from the infirmary and turns his head back to the mouse-maid that had followed him. Several words exchange from the two and Jarril bows nods his head. "Thank ya so much for allowing me in for visiting." Turning around he leaves the cabin as the door shuts off the view of the healer that heads inside and walks across the training ground, his gaze searching for one of his superiors in his patrol.
Earblade nods, seemingly in agreement with the uniformed hare he is currently conversing with, the Colonel looks quite worried, his features unusually grave. The officer he is talking to counts on his fingers as he utters what seems to be names, Earblade shakes his head, frowning, he issues some sort of command and the officer nods and turns, walking quickly away towards the Longpatrol-populated section of the camp. Earblade looks somberly towards the infirmary and sees Jarril walking out. He waves him over, "Ahh, Jarril, just the chap. I hear a friend of yours has been taken sick and quite frankly we're all worried. This recent sickness doesn't seem to be isolated and we can't have our whole bally army coming down sick can we now? Just wonderin' if you had any news about the Longpatrollians in there?" he gestures towards the infirmary, standing slightly apart from Jarril as he does so.
Jarril comes to where Earblade is and nods his head with a small smart salute to the Colonel. "Sah. That is true. Kenai says she's okay and all but I don't know, wot." He rubs a paw at the back of his neck and pulls at the collar of his uniform. "She's not letting on how bally well sick she is. Stilly fool and all. The others are sleeping but not looking any better." He pauses and swallows. "Restricted visits though. Was speaking ta the good ol' healer. Nice mouse-maid and all apart from her temper. But not allowed ta touch them though which is strange. Wouldn't say what they actually had. Don't think they bally well know either." He stops and keeps to attention in front of Earblade, waiting patiently.
Earblade waves dismissively, "At ease lad, not the time for all that regimental malarky.". He frowns, scratching at his slight beard with unmasked concern. "It's best that visitors are restricted, and I wouldn't worry 'bout the healers, even if they're not sure exactly wot the thing is they'll have met similar things to give em an idea on a treatment.". Somehow even the usually high-spirited Colonel doesn't sound too convinced of his own point, he makes several indecisive noises before sighing, "I need a drink, drown the sorrows and all that. Coming private?" he gestures towards the tavern, "I've got the first round if you're up for it lad".
Jarril relaxes as he listens to the colonel and closes a eye in thought
before it flicks open with a start. "Up ta it? I should bally
well think so sah!" He smiles and moves aside, before walking alongside
the colonel, glad to finish off the day with a drink, especially after
being on a scouting patrol before first light that morning.
