FLYING HAGGIS CEILIDH BAND

WELCOME

Flying Haggis Ceilidh Band is a Four Piece Band comprising of Accordionist, Fiddler, Guitarist & Vocalist and Piper playing Bagpipes and Scottish Small Pipes.

I formed Flying Haggis Ceilidh Band shortly before graduating from the BA Scottish Traditional Music degree at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in July 2000. The other band members are all competent musicians in their own right; they have been hand picked by myself and have played at many prestigious events as soloists or with other groups.

We can play for a large amount of different dances, we play for the usual well known dances like Dashing White Sergeant, Strip the Willow and Canadian Barn Dance etc. We also have some newer dances which are not as well known, we call all dances and any that dancers are unsure of we will be delighted to talk you through them. Some of the dances that we do are progression dances where all dancers get to dance and introduce themselves to the other people on the floor; we find that this is a very good ice breaker for everyone and lets all guests get acquainted with one another.

We have our own PA Sound System which can cope with all sizes of venues, upon request we can incorporate into the PA System a CD player and Mini Disc player for playing of background music. All our electronic equipment is fully PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) tested by a qualified electrician before each use, we are also insured for public liability.

Flying Haggis Ceilidh Band specialise in providing Ceilidh Dance music, we don't provide a disco as we would prefer to leave this to professionals in that area, we can however arrange a disco for you if required.
