THE home of Long Eaton's Phoenix Fund, the Devonshire
Studio, is to play host to a UK amateur premiere.
Attenborough-based Riverside Drama Company will be performing Helen
Blakeman's The Morris at the town venue, based within the Chatsworth
Centre, West Gate.
Showings will be from Thursday, June 7 to Saturday, June 9 at 7.30pm.
The story starts one sunny day in Prestatyn for the End of Season
Championships, and the Our Lady All Angels' Morris Dancing Troupe are
fluffing up their shakers, whitening their pumps and sizing up the
competition.
As defending champions, Lily's team are attempting to retain their
title; a feat never accomplished before. But it seems the other teams
are prepared to go to great lengths to win the Championship themselves.
The Morris is described as a "hilarious and powerful play about
friendship, mother- hood and pom-poms".
The play, which features some strong language, features Liz Turner as
Lily, Charlotte Lloyd as Margy, Philippa Lowe as Jamie Lee, Liz O'Hara
as Sharon, Donna Chinn as Donna, and Emjay Sadler as Big Joan. It is
directed by Martin Holtom.
Tickets, priced at £5 and £3.50 for concessions, are available from the
cast, by calling 07793 765721, 07770 780587 or on the door.
