RIVERSIDE Drama Company will be
performing Tim Firth's celebrated dark comedy 'The Safari Party' at the
Devonshire Studio, Chatsworth Centre, West Gate, Long Eaton from
Thursday, November 9 to Saturday, November 11 (7.30pm).
The play, which has recently completed a lengthy national tour and
contains some strong language, is the tale of three house- holds in
Cheshire that have agreed to hold a 'safari party' - a dinner party, each
course of which is served in a different house.
The hors d'oeuvres are served by Daniel and Adam, young brothers whose
abusive father was recently shot dead, the entrees by Lol and Esther,
upwardly-mobile and vulgar, and desserts by lnga, a seemingly benign
antiques dealer.
The three households find they are linked, not just socially, but by an
oak table.
As the evening progresses, the many layers of truth about the table,
some shocking, are revealed and violence flares.
Directed by Sylvia Holmes, the production features Martin Holtom as Lol,
Liz Turner as Esther, Paul Norris as Adam, John Lomas as Daniel,
Charlotte Lloyd as Bridget and Janet Lomas as lnga.
Tickets, priced £5 or £3.50 for concessions are available from Heaps
Stationers, Main Street, Long Eaton, or can be reserved via the group's
web site at www.riversidedrama.com or by telephone on 0115 9170327. |
