Whirlwind of secret doors and murder...

RIVERSIDE Drama have yet another hit on their hands with their latest production "The Murder Room".

Following hot on the heels of the successful "Noises Off", this fast-moving comedy is very ably performed by this small, but talented, company.

Mavis Templeton-Hollister has murdered her husband Edgar for his money, of course.

What follows is a farcical whirlwind of secret doors, dangerous stairways and...the murder room!

I won't give away too much of the plot (you need to go and see it for yourselves), but I will tell you that it is well-written and kept the audience amused throughout.

Director, Martin Holtom, kept his cast on their toes and the pace never drops.  Ron Osmond plays both Edgar and Constable Howard with perfect drollness.  Moya Magee is believable as housekeeper Lotie Malloy.

Brian Hooker plays Inspector Crandall in the style of an English "Columbo".  John Lomas is very funny as the American Barry Draper.  The murderess, Mavis, is superbly played by Donna Chin.

However, it was Liz O'Hara as the step-daughter Susan Hollister who almost stole the show from a very strong cast.  Her comic timing is spot on and she managed to keep us laughing without ever milking her part.

The poisoned cat also deserves special mention.

Another great production from Riverside Drama.  I eagerly await the next.
