Frequently Asked Questions.
If you do not see your question here, please email me & I'll do my best to answer it!
1. Is the toy safe for cats?
It's as safe as any cat toy *can* be! The fabric is double stitched, to make the seams strong. The tail is no longer than the body of the toy, that way, if your cat chews the tail off and swallows it, it shouldn't do any damage. (Mice without tails are available for worried owners of known chewers!) The herbs are organic, and safe to eat, should the cat get into the toy. There is no synthetic toy stuffing. That stuff can do all sorts of damage to a cat when eaten.
I had the toys checked over by a vet, who went on to sell them in his office. He was happy with the safety of the toys, and said that they were much safer than toys with long elastics/strings, or toys with man made stuffing.
It is always advisable to supervise your cat with ANY toys, and to keep the plastic bag away from the cat. Please also ensure that the cat has not undone the knot at the end of the tail, as this prevents fraying.
2. Will my dog like it?
Pooch may well like it, but will probably swallow it whole. The toy is made for cats, and is cat toy sized.
3. Do you ship internationally?
Yes. The shipping rates are on the ordering page of the site. The only place we've had problems shipping to is Australia, bucause of the toy containing herbs. Customs confiscated them. We've sent them to the USA, Europe, Canada etc. If you live in Australia, and know of someone travelling to the UK, I am happy to send them to your friend, as customs seem to have no problem with them going in by person, rather than by post.
4. What methods of payment do you accept?
If you live in the UK, then a postal order of cheque is fine. Paypal (www.paypal.com) works well too. If you are anywhere other than the UK, payment by paypal only please.
5. I want to send them to a friend, how do I do that?
Easy, order like normal, but give me the friend's address info, and any note you want to put it. I'll write out a little gift note, and send them from you!
6. What's in it?
A secret blend of organic herbs. The original recipie is kept in a vault, under my most ferocious tom cat's bed.
7. My cat doesn't play, will it like this toy?
I can quite honesly say that I've only heard of a handful of cats that don't go nuts for these. Old cats who don't play anymore seem to like them, cats who are too posh to play, lose their cool over them, cats who only like to play with things they've killed, still seem to like these. Some cats will kill them, others wash their faces with them, use them as a pillow, or bat them about like some sort of feline ping pong game. Different cats play in different ways, but most cats like this toy!
8. It's all soggy with kitty drool! What do I do now?
Let it dry out naturally, then give it a scrunch up. This breaks up the herbs inside, and makes it smell fantastic again! (to your cat!)
Please, please, please, don't put it in the washing machine just because kitty has licked it! Cats seem to like their toys to look as bad as possible. The more it's been licked, the more attractive it becomes! Besides, washing herbs doesn't do them any good, and will actally take most of the smell away.
9. It's gone green? Why?
Inside the fabric mouse is a portion of pure herbs. When kitty licks the toy, some of the herb colour may stain the fabric. This is normal, and for some reason, cats seem to prefer their toys soggy and green. It's a good sign. Trust me!
10. The toy feels like it has twiggy bits in. Why?
The toy is stuffed with natural herbs. This is normal. It's a natural product and won't do kitty any harm at all.
11. What design does the cat like best?
Your cat most likely won't care! Cats only see in limited colours, and the designs mean nothing to them. So long as you can find the toy on your carpet, everyone will be happy. Cats can sniff these out even when hidden!
12. It's a Christmas present, and I want to hang it on the tree, is that ok?
No! Absolutely not!! I've had a couple of tree fatalities reported to me, as a result of toys on the tree. Face it, what cat needs an excuse to want to climb the Christmas tree? They can smell the toys from across the room. Christmas will be over before you know it. Don't hang them on the tree. Please.
If you are hiding this as a present, remember that kity will sniff it out. Best to put it somewhere like a cupboard or drawer, which kitty can't get into. One lady left hers in a bag of Christmas presents, and kitty opened everyone's present to get to them! Don't say I haven't warned you!
