DATE WITH DEATH

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER 100TH EPISODE SPECIAL

GARDEN OF EVIL

CHARMED AGAIN

SPIRIT OF THE WOLF

Although Pocket Books' Buffy series seemed to stick in the show's third seasons for ages, their Charmed novels have managed to make it before the season has even finished on TV.

Of course, Charmed has only three main characters that need to be included and anything involving Prue can be adjusted relatively easily. In fact, it's easy to conclude that Spirit of the Wolf was planned with Prue in mind - it would have made more sense had she been on a photographic assignment for 415 instead of Phoebe.

Of course, this being the Halliwells, one of her siblings is allowed to tag along for the ride, and this provides Leo and Piper with an opportunity for a romantic weekend. The fact that Leo and Cole are included means that the old Charmed novel favourite of having one of the girls fall for the first cute guy has to be given to Paige. Let's hope that future novels will be able to give this one a miss totally now that two of the sisters are hitched.

The main plot is a bit of a cliche - heartless property developers planning to build on land that a group of Native Americans are claiming belongs to them. The Native Americans have a map that proves that the land is theirs, but it's not in their possession. Can Paige and Phoebe help them out? Well, since this is Charmed, there's never going to be any real doubt about it, is there?

So as usual, it's a reasonably entertaining read, but it's not something that you'll be thinking about for too long afterwards. BACK TO THE TOP
