THE PLOT
Leo is protecting Daisy, a future white lighter, from a dark lighter named
Alec. Leo has made her invisible to Alec, but Alec wants her back
and shoots him with a crossbow. Prue
and Phoebe are discussing their weekend vacation and Piper's track record
in men when they hear her alarmed call from the attic, where they find Leo
with the bolt in his shoulder. Prue uses her power to force it
through him because it is poisoned. Andy
meets Prue at Quake and tells her about the IA investigation. He
might have been followed so they have to make it look as if they're still
friends. Prue asks him to help find Daisy. Leo's
wound is bad and he cannot use his power on himself. The dark
lighter's poison cannot be reserved and as his power ebbs, so does his
cloaking of Daisy. Piper
cannot find anything in the Book of Shadows. Phoebe tells her that
maybe they're not supposed to save Leo, only Daisy. Piper tells her
that they have to save him, whether they're supposed to or not. Alec
orbs into Daisy's motel room and tells her that nothing can stop them
being together. The manager hears the row and unlocks the door, only
for Alec to kill him. Daisy escapes through the window just as Prue
and Andy enter. Prue flings Alec against the wall, after which he
orbs out. Piper
wants to switch powers with Leo, and Prue and Phoebe reluctantly agree to
her casting it. She tests out her power by trying to freeze Kit,
which she can't - except that Prue has a premonition of the cat jumping
onto a table and a lamp shattering. When Kit does jump onto the
table, Phoebe attempts to use her new power to get her off it, only to
smash the lamp into the wall. Piper tries to heal Leo, but it
doesn't work. Rodriguez
interrogates Andy about how he phoned in the manager's murder. Andy
claims it was "a tip". Rodriguez and Anderson want to know
who he's covering for, so Andy hands in his gun and shield. Andy
has tipped off Phoebe that Daisy is about to catch a bus out of
town. Prue has a premonition of where she is. Before they
arrive, Alec orbs in - he wants Daisy to come willingly, then the killing
will stop. Prue and Phoebe arrive, and Phoebe attempts to use her
powers, only succeeding in turning on the taps. Prue succeeds in
winding her sister up so that she can fling Alec out of the way.
Prue picks up his crossbow but he orbs out. In
the attic, Piper is trying to heal Leo, who tells her that he loves
her. Prue and Phoebe arrive with Daisy, who thinks that Alec has
sent the flowers they find there, but they've actually been sent to Prue
by Andy. Leo
is dead. Daisy wants to leave, but Piper won't let her because then
Leo's death would mean nothing. Prue
and Andy meet in a park. He tells her to watch her back, that they
can't be seen together and that what the sisters are doing is the reason
he became a cop. Piper
is angry that Leo didn't show her how to use his power, but she finds the
trigger - love - and heals Leo, who tells her that she had to find it out
for herself. Alec
orbs into the Manor and grabs Piper, offering Leo an exchange. Prue
returns, allowing Alec to shove Piper out of the way, grab Daisy and orb
out. Leo is
still too weak, so Piper must use his powers to find Daisy, which she
does. The Power of Three spell will destroy a dark lighter, but
Phoebe has a better idea and so she and Prue head for Golden Gate Park
where Alec is about to kill Daisy. Phoebe flings him out of the way,
Prue casts the Exchange Spell, Phoebe brings him towards her and Prue uses
Alec's power to kill him before reversing their powers. Leo
reveals to Piper that he used to be human and that after he was killed in
World War II he was offered immortality and a chance to help special
people like her. He can become human again, but Piper says that then
he couldn't save the next Daisy. Rodriguez
and Anderson watch Andy meet Morris. Anderson can't hear what
they're saying but Rodriguez can - Andy is covering for Prue who's
connecting to all their unsolved cases. As Anderson asks how he can
hear this, Rodriguez turns to him. His eyes are glowing red... NOTES The Exchange Spell is: "What's mine is yours, what's yours is
mine/Let our powers cross the line/I offer up my gift to share/Switch the
powers through the air." Prue
once dented Grams' (unless she's referring to Victor's mother) car fender,
which Phoebe got blamed for. Phoebe
earned the nickname "Freebie" at High School. THE
POWER OF THREE Prue forces the poisoned crossbow bolt through Leo's shoulder. She
also flings Alec aside in Daisy's hotel room. After
Piper casts the Exchange Spell, she sees the lamp shattering after Kit
jumps onto the table. She also has a premonition of Daisy. Piper
tests out the Exchange Spell by trying to freeze Kit. Phoebe
uses her new-found active power by smashing the lamp into the wall (she's
trying to get Kit off the table). After Prue winds her up at the bus
station, she spins the magazine rack around and they fly everywhere. Trying
to attack Alec, she turns all the taps on before Prue causes her to fling
him aside. When Alec orbs into the Manor, she only manages to
shatter the lights, but manages to pull him towards Prue in the park. COMMENTS After being mostly absent in
The Power of Two and playing second fiddle
to her sisters in the episodes immediately before that, Piper at last gets
a major role in an episode. The
Exchange Spell could have been used for a comedy episode, but we've
already had fun with a spell going run in Which Prue is it Anyway?
It's mostly played seriously here, but there are a few funny scenes -
Phoebe smashing the lamp and Prue calling her "Freebie". A
couple of on-going plots move along nicely - Piper finally finding out
about Leo and Andy getting suspended, plus the revelation about Rodriguez
that's setting things up for the finale. Piper's
feelings for Leo aside, there's also some nice development for the other
two sisters, especially Prue rethinking her opinion about Phoebe, and
realising that it takes a lot of strength to see premonitions - a change
for her previous view that Phoebe has no vision. Back
