THE PLOT

A teenage girl, Aviva, conjures up a sorceress called Kali, who appears in her mirror.  Aviva tells her that she's been following the Halliwells, and that she's now ready to receive her powers, which she does.

Kit is missing.  After searching the Manor, Leo puts up wanted posters, one of which Aviva sets on fire using her powers.

Piper and Phoebe agree to a 'friendly' competition over Leo.  Since Prue wants the house to herself and Andy for the evening, Piper asks Leo to the movies but Aviva disrupts everyone's plans by turning up with Kit.

Aviva refuses a reward but says that she wants to talk about wicca.  They try to get her to leave but she demonstrates her power, causing Piper to freeze Leo and Andy.  Prue tells her to leave.

Later, Kali tells Aviva that Prue is the strongest and that she should try to win Phoebe round.

Phoebe is naturally envious of Aviva's active powers and after meeting her at school, she shows her around the Manor.  Aviva calls up Kali in order to give Phoebe the power of heat.

At her Aunt Jackie's, Aviva summons up Kali once more.  When Jackie comes into her niece's bedroom, Kali sets her clothes on fire and, stumbling to extinguish the flames, she falls downstairs.

Aviva shows up at the Manor and after Piper confirms that her aunt is in the hospital, she is allowed to stay.  During the night, Kali appears in a mirror and tells Aviva that now is the time for her to get rid off Prue and take her place in the Power of Three.  She creeps into Prue's room but Piper sees her, leaving Aviva to claim that she was lost.

Prue visits Aviva's Aunt Jackie in the hospital and learns that Aviva had hidden Kit in her closet, that she's into black magic and has no friends.  Prue stands up Andy and finds Aviva's diary hidden beneath her bed, which says that she hates lying to the sisters.  She rings Phoebe, tells her to get hold of Piper and not to let Aviva out of her sight.

Phoebe has a premonition of Aviva throwing a fireball at Prue, but she enters the room instead and Aviva throws it at her instead.  Prue explains that Aviva isn't evil, she's just being used.

Aviva tells Kali she doesn't want to be a witch, but Kali tricks her and possess her.

The sisters find the way to destroy Kali in the Book of Shadows and Piper and Prue use their powers to trap her before Phoebe smashes her reflection in the mirror.

NOTES

The Manor is at 7571 Prescott Street and the sisters' phone number is 555-0198.

According to the Book of Shadows, Kali is an evil sorceress cursed into her own dimension.  She appears in reflections and has the power to possess an innocent, who she uses as pawns to steal witches' powers.

Judging by Piper's comments, Phoebe is unemployed so why does Leo put up the reward posters for Kit?  Seems like a bit of a waste of money.

THE POWER OF THREE

Prue closes the door to convince Leo and Andy that Aviva has left and then moves the frozen Kali in front of the mirror in the attic.

Piper freezes the room when Aviva demonstrates her power on Andy's popcorn and then freezes the possessed Aviva (which freezes Kali but not the host).

Phoebe has a premonition of Aviva throwing a fireball at Prue.  She also grows a pot plant using the power given to her by Kali.

Aviva's power of heat allows her to set fire to the reward posters, pop Andy's popcorn, melt Prue's video tape and throw a fireball at Phoebe.

COMMENTS

A return to form after a couple of disappointing episodes.

Kali isn't particularly interesting on her own, but the inclusion of Aviva means that Phoebe gets something interesting to do for a change.

Piper and Prue are more involved with a couple of developing subplots - Piper and Leo, and Prue and Andy.  Piper and Phoebe's lies about the other to Leo are completely unoriginal, but fun nonetheless and it's nice to see Piper taking some action on this front for once.
