Rain,
rain, and more rain. Albion certainly lived up to its reputation on Friday and
Sunday.
Everyone
was gathered for the Fayre of Albion, a nice bit of relaxation in a safe part of
the world so we could get our breath back before getting back to the wars. We
were also hoping it would give us a chance to socialise a little and maybe make
a few contacts for employment opportunities. Each
nation was given its own site within the camp area. The mercenary camp was split into two due to the
number of mercenary companies present: the Lion Azure, the Merchant Militia, the
Black Company, the Zen Genpo Kai,
the Temple of Darkness / Severed Ed, and the Acoatl were all present, there
could have been more whose names escape me.
There
were quite a lot of rules to follow in Albion, most revolving around not killing
one another off and the rest to do with state security (for example mentioning
how bad the weather is is considered subversive). One of the rules was
that we had to pay to
register for permission to forage so off we duly went to register. While we
waiting to register the
gods of Albion showed up to have a small word regarding their followers' behaviour at
Odessa. This turned into a long series of lectures and a removal of some of the
Lion leaders' powers until they follow their gods' edicts better.
We spent quite a while catching up with our friends in the Merchant Militia, as once more we were camped right next to them. As they didn't have a command tent both groups spent quite a lot of the time in ours.
The
factions had a meeting to decide how to treat the Gryphons as they had no leader
and effectively no land due to Lyonesse sealing its borders after the fall of
Estragales. Although there was a discussion on declaring them no longer a
faction in the end they were deemed to be a faction in exile.
In
the evenings and nights it seemed there were almost constant attacks somewhere
in the camp. There was quite a lot of undead (especially death knights that
seemed to be targeting specific groups) and cultists
which meant everyone had to be on their guard at all times.
We
aided in the capture of a
greenskin scout when he tried to escape the Gryphons that were hunting him by ducking into the mercenary camp. Unfortunately for him he decided
to do this during archery practice while the company was on alert.
The
archery tournament went pretty well for us, Kyle lost in the final round to
teamwork from two members of Pluvium Mortalis, a unit we fought alongside at
Renewal 1101 and Odessa. We heard quite a few positive comments about the quality of archers
(and arrows) in the company.
Lord
Elsin had somehow managed to return from his trip through a portal after a blood hag and
was voted LG of the Gryphons.
Things
were also going badly for the Fir Cruthen in Erin, their totem spirits were
suffering the true death. High king Connel Ap Connor sacrificed himself to send
his power to his totem to aid Erin. He was given a very moving farewell at his
wake.
A
raiding party of Fir Cruthen and Gryphons was sent into Erin using a Greenskin
portal but they were unsure how (or when) they could return.
There's still not many piccies - must remember to use the camera.
