WELCOME to my website for the games I'm developing
for the Neo Geo Pocket Colour. If you are looking for information on how
to write your own programs check out the links. Although SNK have stopped
selling the NGPC in all but the Asian market, if you own one of these
great little handhelds have a go at writing something while you’re waiting
for the Gameboy Advance or GameParks GP32.
NEWS 22nd November 2001
Well this is the end for my remake of Manic Miner on the NGPC. Gavin Morgan from Jester Interactive
has demanded that I remove it, which is nice of him.
I don't know why they have chosen to go after my version of Manic Miner I carn't see
that it posses any kind of threat to their revamped GBA version, especially on a dead platform that also requires
the owner to have a flash kit to even play it on the move.
As for my other projects these are progressing slowly, it's very busy at work at the moment as we are
trying to deliver our software before the end of the year. If you haven't yet seen NeoPop's new emulator drop
over to his site and try it out, I've also added a few more links to the Links page (of all places :))
Also Thanks to everyone who's sent me mails over the Jester situation it's much appreciated.

5th September 2001 File Update
I forgot that I promised to release a special version of Manic Miner that allows you to select the level you start at, so I’ve just uploaded a separate version with that option on the Games page. Just use Left/Right on the stick to select the level you want to start at level 0 is the first level. But I’ve had to restrict the level select to a maximum of level 16 because of the problems with the guardians not decoding properly in the last 4 levels. I’ll see what I can do about that over the weekend.
4th September 2001 File Update
V1.0 of Manic miner has been uploaded and you can download it from the Games page. There are still a few problems with it (check the readme file) but it shouldn't effect the gameplay to much. The sound effects are a fairly crap however, so if anyone fancy's using Ivan's sound utility to produce some better effects please feel free to send them to me. If I like them I'll add it to the next release. One difference you may notice is that you will get extra lives every 4000 points in this version instead of the originals 10k this is from a different score system on the amount of remaining air for each level and isn't a bug.
3rd September 2001
I'll be uploading V1.0 of Manic Miner tomorrow, I just need to check it still works on the real hardware after all the modifications. It's virtually complete now and the only things missing in this release is the saving of hi-score I'll have a look at THOR's code from his excellent columns game for this, and the in game music. I couldn't get both sound effects and music working together properly so for now I've ditched the music, You'd thank me if you heard it anyway as it's even worse than the original and that takes some doing :-)
So this will be the last release of Manic Miner for a while, I've already started looking into the next project which will be a conversion of the classic C64 game Thrust. But this depends on how the game might look and play at the NGPC's screen resolution so it might not happen.
18th July 2001
Well I've been away on holiday for a couple of weeks so I haven't posted an update for a while. I've fixed most of the outstanding bugs and created a few more levels. I'll leave the next release until I've finished all the levels, there are about 8 left to do including some of the special levels that require extra coding. Hopefully these will be completed in about a couple of weeks if I get enough spare time and I can stop myself from playing Operation Flashpoint for long enough :-)
I’ll also have to look into Ivan and Nik’s sound drivers to see if I can get a few bleeps and bloops into the Game.
15th June 2001
Ivan has added the latest version of Manic Miner to the Menu rom which contains most of all the other NGPC developers app's in one rom image. You can download it from Ivan's or Jim Bagley's websites.
12th June 2001 File Update
Just Released an update to Manic Miner (Alpha V0.2a) which you can download from the
Games page. This version contains extra levels upto 'Miner Willy meets the Alien Kong Beast' and also has several bug fixes. For the next release I will probably look at fixing more of the bugs, I'll add a list of some of the current bugs to the games page later today. If you find any that aren't listed can you send them to mmbugs@ngpc.co.uk please put BUG in the title.
06th June 2001
Progress has been a little bit slow on Manic Miner over the last couple of weeks. But I have managed to replace the old sprite engine for the guardians and fix a couple of bugs, the levels are now also complete upto Miner Willy meets the Alien Kong Beast. I’m currently working on the special functions in this level (there are several levels that need this such as Eugene’s Lair the Kong levels, Skylab Landing Bay etc) and when I’ve done that I’ll create the next four or five levels or so and try to release a new version after the weekend.
