PRACTITIONER OF:

REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is a method for activating the healing powers of the body.  It is both old and new.  From ancient texts we know that the early Chinese, Japanese, Native Americans, Russians and Egyptians worked on the feet to promote good health.

Native North American tribes knew the relationship between the reflex points and the internal organs of the body and used this knowledge to treat disease.  It is still used in Indian reservations.

An American physiotherapist, Eunice Ingham, became interested in this method and used zone therapy work with her patients, she mapped the entire body onto the feet and discovered than an alternating pressure on the various points had therapeutic affects and so reflexology as we know it was born.

Reflexology can be used to reduce stress and induce deep relaxation, improve circulation, cleanse the body of toxins and impurities, balance the whole system and revitalise energy.

It is sometimes described as ‘zone therapy’, 'compression massage’ or ‘press point therapy’.

The person receiving the Reflexology will recline and the Practitioner, will press on the feet using their thumbs and knuckles (some Reflexologists work with the hands).  Working on the whole of the foot can cover the whole of the body and discomfort could be experienced in the foot if the corresponding part of the body is not in good condition, also if the body is out of condition it can have an adverse affect on the Recipient the next day, however, this is short-lived and in the long run is very beneficial.

After the treatment a gentle massage is given to the feet and lower leg.  Linda uses Aromatherapy oils for this massage chosen for the individuals needs and finishes with a Reiki boost if desired.

Reflexology is preventative health care.  It unblocks the energy centres so that the body returns to its natural rhythms.  With the energy flowing the body, mind and spirit are brought back into balance.
