Robert was signed for £9.5 million in August 2001 from
PSG.
In the 2000-2001 season Robert made 26 appearances for the french
side, including appearances as a substitute, where he managed
an impressive 15 goalsl from the left side of midfield that
he prefers.
Robert made 34 appearances in his impressive first season, scoring
10 goals. Among his best performances was in Newcastle's 4-3
win over Manchester United, where Robert ripped into the frail
United defence and had a hand in most of the goals.
