Calvin Zola Makongo is a towering 6'3 striker who hails from DR Congo. He signed for the Magpies in the summer of 2000 and says he hopes to "make it in football" by the end of 2003.

Makongo has yet to make an appearance for Newcastle's first team, although has been playing regularly for the reserves since April 2002.

In May 2002 he helped Newcastle clinch the National Under 17 Play-Off title, by scoring one of the goals in the 2-0 victory over Manchester United.
