Steve Caldwell broke into the first team
at Newcastle in a 1-0 win at Manchester City on 30 September
2000 when he came on as a substitute.
Stephen went on to make 10 appearances in total throughout
the season, including four as a substitute. His first goal
in a black and white shirt came when he grabbed the winner
in a 4-3 Worthington Cup defeat of Bradford City at St James'
Park in November.
On 25 April 2001, Steve made his full Scotland debut in Poland
when he came on in the second half to help his country to
a 1-1 friendly international draw.
Steve is currently out of contract and has rejected Newcastle's
contract offer of another year, as he wants to sign a long
term deal but admits that he might have to stay and sign the
year contract offer to keep his Internation call-up hopes
alive.
