Olivier Bernard is an attacking left back who joined Newcastle
from Lyon.
After forcing his way into the reserve team, he made nine appearances
for Darlington in loan spell at club for 2 months before returning
to Newcastle in time for the Intertoto match against Troyes,
which he played a part in getting Newcastle back to 4-4 from
4-1 down.
After becoming increasingly impatient at not being able to force
his way into Newcastles first team, a move to West Ham looked
iminent, but after Sir Bobby Robson put a stop to Olivier leaving
Newcastle he decided to fight for his place in the team, and
now has a regular spot at left back.
