Newcastle left Highbury in dissapointment after equalising twice only for Henry to score a penalty from a Jermaine Jenas handball 10 minutes from time.

Arsenals first goal came about on 18 miutes, from a mistake from Titus Bramble. He swung a leg at a cross that could of been stopped and then kicked away. The ball skimmed off his right foot, into the path of Henry for a simply tap in.

Hughes looked like he had miskicked a cross. Dyer was able to run into the penalty area before crossing for Robert to tap in on the goal line.

Laurent Robert gave away a free-kick to Arsenal in the 67th minute on the wide right. Jenas lost the man he was marking, Gilberto, who ran in front of the crowd of players and the ball went in off his shoulder.

On 71 minutes, Kieron Dyer, who had a brilliant game on the right wing again, ran through the middle of the pitch and played a pin-point perfect ball to left back Olivier Bernard who was running in, to hit first time in the top left hand corner past Lehmann.

An Arsenal cross from the right was high and passing everyone on 80 minutes, until Jermaine Jenas tried to jump up to try and head away put his arm high up in the air which hit the ball and gave a penalty to Arsenal. He made contact, Arsenal appealed, we forlornly claimed a push in the back on JJ. Henry showed JJ the way to chip a penalty by waiting for Given to make his dive, before delicately lobbing the ball over him into the centre of the goal. 2-3

Thierry henry cooly chipped the ball into the middle of the net while Shay Given was diving to the left to make the game 3-2 to Arsenal.

Sir Bobby said:

"It was a cruel night because we played very well"

"We have had one day to prepare for this game, they have had six, so that was a big bonus for them.

"It was a complete mis-kick from Titus Bramble, we have lost a goal to a set-play and given away a penalty. In between we made two clever goals, and in all honesty I thought we deserved something from the game."

"I would just question the free-kick which led to the winning goal.

"I thought Titus Bramble made a superb tackle, clean as a whistle, played the ball, wins the ball, knocks it out of play.

"The referee buckles and gives them a very important free-kick. Shay Given saves the free-kick, it goes for a corner, over comes the corner and it is a penalty and we lose the match.

"So it has been really a difficult night for us."
