The vague idea is to saddle up with tents + a few odd and ends and head off with the aim of doing 40 miles per day and making it to the coast! Eating at pubs along the way and camping out in random places at night. To be ultimately cheap (and straight forward) it'd be nice to start and perhaps finish from/at rugby.

As for routes....I dunno. i've been looking at stuff, and from recent experience i'd say avoid promising cross field shortcuts cos u always end up in the middle of nowhere on the most rutted piece of ground ever. Canals would be a very sensible guide because they're always flat (though some of the less bike proficient have expressed concerns about falling in).
