The Area

Availles Limouzine is located in 'La Vienne' - taking its name from the wide, peaceful river which meanders its way from Chinon all the way through the arrondisement. (The view above is from a friend's garden).

At Availles, La Vienne reaches its widest, slowest, most peaceful state. Just sitting by the bank is a calming experience. And watching the sun go down across the green hills is the perfect end to a long, hard day of relaxation.

Horse-riding, tennis, mini-golf and boat hire are available in the local village – and the wider area is rich in beautiful countryside, well-mapped walks, wildlife and traditional French architecture. Civray, Confolens and L’Isle Jourdain provide not only beautiful medieval architecture and castles, but also shopping and restaurants with fabulous food at low prices (our personal preferences available on request). The whole area is ideal for walking/cycling. However, it also offers massively popular tourist attractions such as  La Vallee des Singes – all between 30-50 minutes’ drive from the front door.
