A TOUGH TEST FOR TEAM CO-ORDIT AT THRUXTON
Team Co-ordit lined up on the grid in sweltering temperatures for the fourth round of the ViSK
British Superbike Championship in Association with Pirelli at Thruxton (31 May). The testing 2.35
mile former WWII airfield always proves to be one of the most demanding, and exciting, venues on the calendar, and this weekend proved to be no exception.
Richard Cooper, having not raced at the Hampshire circuit for the past four years, made the most
of his second row qualifying position to hustle through into fourth at the first corner. The
Nottingham based rider held off the advances of Smart and Hillier for the opening laps, but with
the blistering race pace verging on the lap record, the Team Co-ordit Metzeler National Superstockrider made the most of the 15 lap race to take the chequered flag in 7th, elevating himself back up to 3rd in the Championship.
Bruce Wilson, relishing only his second outing on the 2008 Co-ordit Yamaha YZF-R1, improved
dramatically over the weekend at a circuit where finding the right setting is akin to locating the
holy grail. Unfortunately, Bruce’s race came to a dramatic conclusion with a high speed crash on the final lap. Despite burying himself into the Thruxton air fencing, Bruce was unhurt and upbeat about his continual development throughout the meeting.
David Hallett’s affinity with his the Team Co-ordit/Ross Aldridge Solicitors Yamaha R6 is growing
with each round. The Kent rider just missed out on fifth but moved up two places in the Fuchs-
Silkolene British Supersport Cup with a good run around the highly abrasive track to cross the line sixth, and 23rd in the race overall.
A collision with another rider forced Leon Hunt out of points contention, and the race, in the
closing stages of an incident filled Metzeler National Superstock 600 race. Drama unfolded from
the lights with two riders colliding on the grid, one fallen machine collecting a few more riders in
the process. Riders formed up, and the pace car finally pulled in on lap four, only to be recalled for a two-rider incident a few corners later. With the race finally under way on lap 6, Leon battled for points with a host of riders, but was forced to retire on the penultimate lap when the damage to
his Team Co-ordit R6, caused by another rider, forced him to pull out of the race.
Round 5 of the 2009 ViSK British Superbike Championship in Association with Pirelli takes place at Snetterton in Norfolk (19-21 June), where Team Co-ordit has already tasted podium success this
season when competing in the NGRRC Championships.

Bruce Wilson: “That was another great weekend, despite crashing out on the last lap of the race. The whole team worked really hard to get the bike handling, and their efforts paid off as I moved up six places in the race from my qualifying position. We went faster every session, and I can’t wait for the next round. Co-ordit are really getting me back on track.”
Pete Bradshaw, Team Owner: “For a track we don’t know we came away with some good
results. Thruxton is a difficult track to get the right settings but the riders, despite not having much track knowledge, put in some good rides. Cooper, having not ridden there for four years, has come away back up in 3rd in the championship. Leon had another rider crash into him forcing him to retire, which was an injustice seeing that he had a fast race pace. David just missed out on fifth place and Bruce, after improving all weekend ended up in the air fence! Bruce is fine and we look forward to Snetterton, which has proved in the past to be a good track for us.”
Brands Hatch Race Report April
Richard Cooper started the season in record style and podium finish to put him in second position of the ultra competitive superstock 1000 championship. Richard battled hard from the line with former champion Brogan on the Padgetts Honda and even set a new lap record but it was Seeley who finally took advantage of backmarkers and finished ahead of Cooper.
PORTIMAO TEST 09
Eventually after a winter of waiting it was time to get out on the bike again and although I would be riding the 08 Yamaha instead of the new 09 I was still really excited because we were going to the new Portimao circuit for a 3 day test. The main objective was just to get back up to speed but being a racer and the sun shining it was hard not to push from day one. The bike felt really good from day one which made my job really easy we just made a few small changes with the suspension and gearing and the bike felt like I had never been of it. After 3 day's of testing I would have to say that the Portimao circuit is properly the best track I have ridden in 10 years of racing and to put the icing on the cake we went faster then the European superstock lap record. Roll on the next test when we get to ride the new bikes for the first time.
TESTING WITH XAUS AND CORSER
After receiving a phone call from BMW Motorrad while I was in America racing asking me if I would like to test the new BMW s1000rr for a second time I jumped at the chance to ride the bike again and it also gave me a bit of confidence with myself knowing I must have done a good job at Magny Cours in the first test with Steve Martin. The test was at Valencia a track that I have raced at in the past but not since 2006 but I knew it would not take me long to find my way round the track again. The track felt a lot smaller then I remember but when your riding a superbike for a factory team that have told you under no circumstances to crash the bike I guess things are going to come at you fast. The test was more of a shake down for the new bikes and to gather some data from the bikes to prepare them for Xaus and Corser. I was riding Xaus’ bike’s which was a great honour for me to have been ask by the team.
The new bike feels so good and fast already its hard to find a problem with the bike as it does just about anything you want it to do. After the first day of testing it was time to hand the bike over to Xaus and hopefully I had done another good job for the team. I was ask to stop for the second day of testing with a small chance of getting out on the bike again but as it turned out they did not need me to ride again so I just watch from the pits as the two new factory BMW riders Xaus and Corser took to the track for the first time. It was great to be there and experience working with a factory team with two factory riders and now I can hopefully use it to my advantage in the future.
