| I'm searching for anyone who knew my late Father 1236383 LAC Leonard Rex (Len) Smith - smudge) (Well actually his proper name was Leonard Rex Smith) He joined the RAF on 19th March 1941 and was stationed at Weeton/Blackpool 8S of TT for his aquare bashing stint, until 6th January 1941. From there he was posted to Catterick until he was posted to Eastleigh Nairobi. Dad embarked on the Arundel Castle (HMT F1) on 17th June 1942 (which as a matter of interest was only 4 months after his second daughter had died aged 17 months).and was staioned at Eastleigh Kenya until May 1945. He was a sheet metal worker copper Smith by trade both in civy street before the war and in the RAF. He originally came from London. His wife's name was Alice. He was very friendly with a Dicky Freeman and his son who was the Government Head Printer in Nairobi during his time spent in Kenya. One of his other friends who was stationed with him was a Tommy Grills who moved to the Headlands in Hartlepool in the 50's where he and his wife opened a Guest House.
