Don't Make Me Come Over There!
Rules and Regulations: How the game works and how you should behave

What is required of the players?
Player age:
  • We require that all players are aged 15 or above, and can handle situations and issues which may arise in the game maturely.
Posting requirements:
  • Players should aim to post to the game once per week, or more if possible.
  • A post should be around three paragraphs long as a minimum, or as long as a player likes. You may choose to split a post into multiple parts, but you do not have to.
  • Posts are written in third person prose form, in past tense.
  • Players are encouraged to take part in joint posts, where two players write a post together.
Things which are not allowed:
  • Explicit sexual language, or detailed descriptions of sexual acts in stories, which may offend people.
  • Extremely violent scenes or language...we have nothing against very mild swearing and violence, but when your writing starts to cause distress to other players we will ask you to tone it down.
  • Killing, or seriously injuring other people's characters, or making any other serious changes to characters without permission from the player.
  • Being rude or abusive to other players...we have very few personal disputes, and they should be kept away from the game.
  • Making huge changes to the current storyline without asking other people or considering the effect on the game.
  • Basically treat the game and the people in it with respect and you can't do much wrong!
Things that are allowed:
  • Descriptions of violence that you don't think will offend anyone.
  • Mild swearing in posts, as long as it is not offensive to anyone. Cursing and swearing is part of real life, and we don't think that has changed in the 24th century. Just don't swear purely for the sake of swearing...it should be used where it is necessary for the realism of the post, not because you think it is cool.
Who runs the game?
The Players: Our command structure is informal, though we expect everyone to act responsibly. Constructive feedback is welcome, though nasty emails to may result in you having your head bitten off.

Players posts make the story evolve, so don't expect anyone to tell you what to do at every move. We decide through informal chat as a group how to start and end the story, and all players determine what happens in between. The game is about mature people writing together for enjoyment, so telling you what to write removes the object of the game.

Promotions and Rank
Promotions: All characters unless otherwise stated will start at Ensign rank. Promotion will be based on effort and experience by the player. We try to treat rank as something which is unimportant, and all players will be treated with respect. For most of us rank is more of a writing tool than a way of having 'power' in the game.

Please don't try to make your character's actions perfect to gain a higher rank. Been there, done that, grew out of the t-shirt.
