My ride from Grimsby to Broomfleet and return to Barton on Wed 25/05/05
My dad was racing today at barton so I decided I would ride there but I wanted to go further so was Originally going to go to beverly but I later decided that due to the wind direction and terrain, I'd ride to gilberdyke (however you spell that) instead since there was a cafe there. I would ride a metric for this day so set off at about 2:30pm which I think might have been a little late and should have really left earlier. The weather was one of the first days in the year where I could ride in t-shirt and shorts.
After about 1.5 hours, I arrived at the humber bridge and crossed it, its quite a steep climb to get onto the bridge and there is a hairpin on the ramp too.
Here are some photos

On the north bank I had a Ice-cream from a van which was parked there and eat it while looking at the bridge while sat in my comfy seat which feels more like an armchair than a bike seat. After the ice cream I headed under the bridge to check out this new "cycle trail" which lead west from the bridge. There were some Anti-Elephant gates on the path but I was able to ride straight though them on the trike (you have to get off a mountain bike to get though).

The surface in the picture is not too bad but about 1/2 mile down the surface had been washed away leaving big jagged rocks exposed and it was not nice, I will never use this path again.
When I get to Broomfleet, the road I thought lead to the cafe had a dead-end sign on it, there was another "cycle trail" but it was nearly as bad as the one I went on eariler and it was getting late (5:45) and thought the cafe might be shut. I was also getting cramp in my right leg so I turned around and went back to barton via Swanland.
