Debden
colts was established in March 2005. The club was formed so that players who
weren't enjoying their game due to arguments or the club taking things too
serious could once again play for the enjoyment of playing. The idea come
when Darren Richards and Tim Passey had a telephone conversation after a Saturday
game talking about all the lads meeting up for a drink during the Easter holiday
as they hadn't been out in a long time. These people included Bacon, Reado,
Vaux and Woody. Whilst chatting it was mentioned how much of a laugh we had
when we played together for Colebrook Royals Football Club and how much we
all missed it. Then all of a sudden the idea of starting a team entered Darren's
head and Tim was soon interested and involved one thing lead to another and
before long we had 18 interested players, a pitch and a possible league sorted
out all within the week. Now you are reading this on our very own Club web
site so the rest they say is history. The first game played for this soon
to be historic club saw Debden Colts lose 3-2 on a windy, wet day over Wansted
flats to AFC Kings Vets however it wasn't the result that mattered it was
the enjoyment of playing a game of football with no worries or arguments with
your mates which is why we play the game in the first place isn't it? However
here is a name to remember in years to come when over a Christmas game of
trial pursuit you get a sport question and asked who scored Debden Colts first
ever goal. The answer Perry Tarrent it was a 2 yard Screamer.
