Although the law is supposed to protect the innocent the new children and adoption bill going through parliament view here does not give enough recognition to domestic violence or child abuse

The Best Interest Campaign intends to lobby MP's in a hope of getting the government to recognise that not all fathers should have contact with vunerable children.

Although some pressure groups would have you believe that fathers are being victimised by unscrupulous mothers and that the courts are not protecting them, very few fathers are ever refused contact by the court. Only 1% of cases that actually went to court were refused a contact order.

The Best Interest Campaign (BIC) believe that this is to few and that the courts are putting children and their mothers in uneccessary danger. Domestic violence is a problem which affects one in four women during their lifetime and kills two women each week. Domestic violence represents almost a quarter of all recorded violent crime and carries the highest risk for repeat victimisation. Twenty-nine children to date have been murdered in child contact arrangements and the BIC believes that this is far too many.

The BIC needs your help to prevent any more deaths or injuries. You could help by writing to your MP and asking them to campaign against the governments Children and Adoption Bill. To do this please follow the link for the contact bill which gives you the chance to view the bill and our response to it. There is also a link to your MP available.
