Mr Herbert Warburton (son of Fred Warburton by his 2nd marriage), retired 8 years ago this April and lives in the cottage adjoining (number 1 Pole Lane), tells he's the last one bearing the famliy name to be in the business, now 73 years old, recalled how his Grandfather, Edmund, started in a small way further down Pole Lane. His shoeing and wheelwrighting business developed quickly and he soon built the present shop and cottage where at one point three smithy fires were kept going all the time."
