The Tri Lambretta was made at the request of foregin markets, noteably India, where all but 2 models were sent. The two models that were left behind in Italy were prototype examples, one was fitted with a comfortable sprung loaded seat to carry passengers. All examples exported were sent without any front compartment, local companies in India added the accessories as ordered by their customers Mechanical brakes all round, no instruments, and a single adjustable seat helped keep the selling price down, the Tri Lambretta was based on the DL (GP) range of two wheeled scooters produced at the time.
Above is a picture of the Tri Lambretta with a conversion of a Helikak helipoter cab on the front. These were carried out in Indonesia, only two are known in existance. |
