KILLINCHY is a small village 5 miles, Irish, South east of Comber. It is in the barony of Dufferin. The
nearest railway station is at Ballygowan, 4 miles, Irish, to the West. Mr. John Cleland, D.L., is the
principal owner of the district, the lands of which are good for pasture and tillage. oats, potatoes, wheat and flax are grown. Balloo fort is within a mile. In 1829 several silver coins of the 12th century were found at a short distance from it. The site of Killinchy fort was occupied by the castle of Hugo White in the 16th century. He removed from it to Killyleagh.
