Strandtown or Sydenham , is a village or townland in the parish of HOLYWOOD, Lower Castlereagh barony, county Down. It stands on the road from Belfast to Holywood, adjacent to the shore of Belfast Lough and to the east end of Ballymacarret, 1 1/2 miles E. by N. of Belfast, and 2 3/4 s.w. of Holywood. Population of the townland in 1861 395; and in 1871, 1,103.
