Martin's Bit

There’s no better way than to say it straight out! Church isn’t everyone’s bag. In fact, the increasing mind of society sees it as an irrelevance except when we have need of it. When a family wishes to have their children “Christened”, when a couple want a Church Wedding, when there is a death in the family and it is thought that a church funeral would be what they would want, when a disaster strikes. For many people today, who would call themselves Christian, church is a very occasional part of their day to day lives.

Now I don’t want to start disrespecting the personal belief and right of the individual to choose how they live. That really is not for me to judge. I do think that so many people do miss out though. Church isn’t what they think, honestly there is a lot more to it! Especially when taken personally. You see the world we live in is demanding. Demanding of time, energy and commitment. To many people church would just be another drain on their already stretched lives. But church is in fact much more of a giver than a taker. For the sake of making a couple of hours a week for church and a regular bit of time to pray many people find their lives enriched and the burdens of day to day life lessened. Even by taking their faith further, into the way they live and how they order their priorities in life, many people find not a drain but a river of life. In fact that is the promise made by Jesus.

“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." (John 7:38)

As anyone knows the way to get better and improve is to practice. There is a power in numbers and many more opportunities to learn the lessons of life in a crowd. King Street offers this opportunity to you with a friendly smile and asks you to walk with us into the promise of God.
