A couple of years ago, I attended Essex
Literary Festival, where poet, Tim Cunningham,
shared a platform with the Poet Laureate, Andrew Motion. .The
following year I took part, with several other people, in a poetry workshop
led by Tim, when he kindly offered to do a critique of our poems if we sent
them to him. For this kindness, I sent him a copy of the book. To my
great surprise and joy, Tim sent me 'Verica's Song' which he wrote after
reading the book but, even better and more touching, he followed this with
three more poems inspired by it, thus making a wonderful quartet,
dedicating them to me, for which I shall always be grateful. Verica's
Song and The Fortune Teller will be included in his next book of poetry to
be published in 2006 by Peterloo. The other
two poems are titled Lucky Thirteen and Translating the Lullaby.
