Eccles Line

Home Metrolink Pub Crawl Manchester Metrolink Holidays

The Eccles line consists of 10 stops, Pomona, Exchange Quay, Salford Quays, Anchorage, Harbour City, Broadway, Langworthy, Weaste, Ladywell and finally Eccles.

The Eccles line was opened in two phases during 1999 as far as Broadway and finally all the way to Eccles in 2000.

As has been mentioned on other pages on the web site there are different ways to do the 'Metrolink Pub Crawl', I suggest that if you are planning on doing the Eccles line - do it in isolation - do one pint in each of the pubs from Eccles to Pomona. The reason I suggest this is due to the 12 minute frequency of the trams and the long walks to some of the pubs. Time would be a very serious issue if trying to combine the Eccles line with another part of the network.

Pomona

Exchange Quay

Salford Quays

Anchorage

Harbour City

Broadway

Langworthy

Langworthy station.

A pub called 'The Ugly Duckling' is on the opposite side of Eccles New Road to the tram station. This is a run down part of town, and this is the type of pub you would expect to find in a run down part of town.

Weaste

Weaste tram station

Turn right off the tram station (towards Manchester) and you will see 'The Grey Mare' about 100 metres away.

Ladywell

Ladywell tram station is predominantly a station at the park and ride facility at junction 2 of the M602, and as such the nearest pub is a good 10 minutes walk away.

You must cross over Eccles New Road (to the opposite side of the road from the park and ride) and walk towards Manchester. Turn left and walk down Stott Lane.

Walk right the way down to the far end of Stott Lane (over the M602 and Hope Hospital will be on your left).

At the end of Stott Lane turn right, and on the opposite side of Eccles Old Road is 'The Hope'

Eccles

Eccles station is the terminus for the line and is a single platform station.

On the opposite side of the road from the tram station is 'The Eccles Cross' a Weatherspoons pub.
