Minutes of the Exhibition Golf society meeting held on Wednesday 9th
January 2007

Meeting opened at 19:30
1.
APOLOGIES - Robin

MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING – were read and agreed.
3.
MATTERS ARISING – None.
4.
TREASURER’S REPORT –Sue reported that there was £865.07 in the
account with no liabilities and that the Xmas Quiz had broken even.
5.
SOCIAL EVENTS: Marriott
Nights – Brian May is willing to host nights at the Marriott for any members
wishing to take a group to the Marriott. Last Friday in each month is Salsa
night and most Saturday nights there is a disco night. Brian is willing to host
these with his membership of the Marriott giving very good discounts. Condition
is that he gets his food subsidised. Anyone wanting to host a night please
contact Brian.
The Bowls night was a success
and a vote of thanks given to Drew for organising. The Xmas dinner was a success
and well and a vote of thanks given to Kulbir for all his efforts.
Looking ahead an evening
at Peterborough Dogs is to be organised and we are going to try and get tickets
for the Newmarket Greene King Day in October. UB40 are playing at Newmarket
Nights on the 18th July please let Steve or Sue know if you are
interested in going.

LAST EVENTS – Recent events were the Landlord’s Trophy played at
Wyboston Lakes the overall winner was Phil Stamp with runner-up Nigel Alban,
Longest Drive was Rob Syer and nearest the pin was Andrew Barker. This was
followed by the Xmas Event at Old Nene which was won by Shaun May, runner-up was
Andy Wren, Longest Drive was Ken Moore and Nearest the Pin was Stuart Wren.
NEXT EVENTS – Next event is scheduled for the 19th January at
stilton Oaks details of this and future
events will be advised.
7.
WEEKEND AWAY – this has been booked for the weekend of the 26/27th
July at Teign Valley Golf Club cost to members £145 with subsidy there is still
a place available guests are allowed at full rate from end of Jan those
attending please pay a deposit of £50 asap.
8.
CHARITY DAY 2008 Brian
May has agreed to take on the role of Champion and will be
arranging a meeting of those wishing to be involved early in February. It is
intended to book the same venue as last year for mid-August.
9.
AOB:
Any members with ideas for any
fundraising events please contact any committee member.
The post of Secretary still
remains vacant and although Brian is doing it on a temporary basis we really
need someone to volunteer to take over the position.
Steve and Sue ran a Xmas Quiz
Sheet which broke even and the winner will be announced shortly.
It was agreed to seek ideas to
reduce the cash in bank level for the Society.
Designation of a John Chicken
Trophy was discussed but it was agreed that a Trophy and Event celebrating
Absent Friends would be more appropriate.
The Society is to enter two
teams in the Pub Team of the Year Competition the first date being 4th
April.
