The dry Autumn
conditions made the under foot conditions firm & with the river level being
low, times were between 2 to 3 minutes quicker than in recent years. Bill
Johnson won the V60 category in a large field that totalled 1015 whilst
Paul Newton was 1st home for the club in 13th. Paul also
won the Redhill “marathon” killer pool competition afterwards.

A record entry in both the 10k (537) & fun runs
(180) saw Tim Hartley break the course record & Vicky finish 3rd
in the ladies race. Redhill finished 2nd in both teams events behind
Chesterfield AC in the mens and Holme Pierrepont in the ladies event. Over 700
in total entered leaving all concerned stretched on the day but rewarded with
the successful running of our ever popular event. A big

of the strongest ladies fields for a long time saw our ladies finish 3 in the
top 14 to total 35 points in the first race of the season. This leaves them we
believe in 4th place behind Charnwood (24), Mansfield (31) &
Derby (34). The men’s race was equally competitive with Andy finishing 8th
as 1st Redhill counter.

The
weather was not ideal for running & her time was probably slightly slower than
that she would have liked, but even though a memorable moment for Helen.
Staying
with the marathon, also well done to, Andy (3rd Vet) & 6th
overall, Dave for his reliable performance & to Phil who with no marathon
training decided only to do the full at the 12 mile mark of the race!

ladies race. Redhill’s ladies running for Notts in the National Sweatshop
