Redhill Ladies take F35 team Silver at the BMAF RR Champs!
Redhill Men also take M35 team Bronze!
Always
the highlight of the British Masters racing calendar, 2009 would be no
exception with some stunningly close finishes in the races.
Ladies F35 4 x 3m
All
the leading names were there including the top 3 from last year, the race would
be eventful right from the off. The start left the field split with many
falling (including Toni) who was caught up in the mess, but after helping one
unfortunate lady to her feet she then flew off to play catch up. By the end of
leg one she was back up to 6th with 18.31 with Dulwich
holding a good lead.
BMAF F35 Team Silver!
Toni
Minniti 18.31
Sharon
Smith 18.08
Helen
Burrell 18.30
Carolyn
Hay 18.28 (Silver) 1.13.37
Ladies F45 3 x 3m
In
the same race Helen C, Bev & Ann ran in their age
category in what turned out to be the strongest field of the day. Placing
positions in this age group was difficult with all the other categories running
but reigning champions Reading were certainly a class apart from the rest and
gave the F35 ladies a run for their money. Reading were easy champions with our
ladies finishing 7th in a time that would have normally stood a
chance of a minor medal, but unfortunately not his year due the high standard
present.

Cawthorne 20.23
Bev Barnes 21.38
Ann
Ford 19.30 (7th) 1.01.31
Men M35 4 x 3m
From
the start one team shone,
Andy
led off returning in a swift 15.39 and third, there were however several others
just behind. Nigel said that he ran scared, his first ever BMAF event, we
pondered what time he would do, circa 17 dead was the bet however a blistering
16.34 was his effort returning in second place again with 3 teams just behind.
Dependable Mark was third, and didn’t disappoint with 16.17,
BMAF M35 Team Bronze!

congrats
& thanks to all for everyone’s efforts.
Men
- Mansfield Senior Team beat Notts (who although not
at their strongest) were easily beaten,
Redhill won individual Gold’s through Paul Newton M40
Gold, & Andy Wetherill M50 Gold, There were also
Silver Medals for Mark Yates M40 & Jim Munro M60.
Redhill Vet men easily won Gold & had literally no
competition (where were the
A
Senior Team Bronze gave one or two from our club the chance to win a county
champ medal which perhaps they never thought would come their way so congrats
especially to Mark Davies (men's run of the day) & to Ian Abbott who teamed
up with Lee, Martyn, Clive & Matt Stratford to
make up Redhill's Senior team.
The
strength of the ladies field that turned up on the day coupled with the fact
that in order to get a Team medal in both categories meant we needed to split
our ladies strength made team selection difficult, ultimately we decided to run
Helen with Ann & Sarah P in the Vets as Charnwood
with the "Potters" plus 1 were all present and were going to win the
title. The Ladies Nott’s & Mansfield challenge never materialised once this race started but Sutton with Claire
running were a match for our ladies & the Team Silver turned out to be a
straight race between Catherine & Suttons 3rd counter as the other 4 ladies
all cancelled each other out. In the end Catherine just failed to catch her
Sutton counterpart & we were beaten to Silver by 1 point, Elsie then
caught Catherine & both ladies then ended up sprinting each other to
the line, a race which Elsie just won. Nott’s without Nicola Bamford gave up on the Seniors and won the Vet title,
Helen, Ann & Sarah took Vet team Silver. Carolyn, Sharon & Elsie took
Senior Team Bronze.
Helen
& Ann won individual Gold’s with Sharon Silver & Carolyn Bronze.
