Special Announcement

Sheelagh Wurr, co-chair of Warminster Writers' Circle has produced a book entitled St Aldhelm of Wessex.

Sheelagh is a retired teacher living in Warminster and an LPA and organist for the parish of Bishopstrow and Boreham.  The smaller of the two churches in the parish is St Aldhelm’s in Bishopstrow.  This has a beautiful window depicting the legend of St Aldhelm’s staff, the “Bishop’s Tree” which gave Bishopstrow its name.

With the 2005 celebrations on the horizon, Sheelagh thought it would be interesting to spend much of the summer researching and travelling to places connected with the saint, and the Reverend Christine Gilbert, also from Warminster, kindly agreed to illustrate the booklet.

Copies of the booklet, St Aldhelm Of Wessex, can be obtained from 31 Pound Street, Warminster, BA12 8NL, (price £3.50 +30p postage), or email sheelaghw@warminsterwriterscircle.org.uk.  From the beginning of 2005 they will be on sale in SPCK, Salisbury, and in the Sarum College bookshop.
