Top 10 Tips

2

Join the G SCALE MAD web site / group. Its full of very useful advice on how to build and run a railway, (they are all mad on there ... about g scale!)

6

When working out how many cables you will need for lighting, point motors etc.,  triple it! It’s easier to bury the wires now, rather than when you have just finished making the platforms and then decided that those gas lamps would look nice lit up.......

7

Don’t try to put gradients in (unless you happen to have a rack loco!!!) They WILL appear  in the next 12 months on their own.........

8

The most important rule...........
IT’S MY RAILWAY, I WILL RUN WHAT I WANT, WHEN I WANT, HOW I WANT, AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT..........

9

A cheap source of smoke fluid is to make your own.
Barbecue lighting fluid, mixed with garden lamp oil 50/50 mixed makes great smoke oil. I've been using it for years with no problems.

Look everywhere for stuff for your railway, toy shops are good, charity shops, eBay, anywhere really.
